You knew it was just a matter of time before a lawsuit was filed...

The families of four Chicago tourists who drowned at Fort Worth Water Gardens have filed a lawsuit, claiming the city showed "utter indifference" to the safety of visitors, especially children.​

The lawsuit doesn't set a damage amount, but it asks for more than $1 million on each of 72 counts, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reported.​

Well, I can't say that I'm surprised by this.......

But this morning, Channel 5 reported that two prominent Ft. Worth Law Firms have already offered to assist the City (of Ft. Worth) in defense of this lawsuit.... And I'm sure the 'assistance' will be pro-bono...

Now it seems to me that enough people (involved with this story) recognize that the City is not responsible for the loss of life (here). And the fact that two Law firms would offer to help defend the case, drives that point 'home' even further......

I'm sure the City will be forced to 'offer a settlement' of some kind, although I don't think they should......

'Cause it's got to be devastating enough to have lost family members in a tragic accident, but to then sue and lose and get nothing; that might be unbearable......

Well...it is obvious that you don't get in a fountain to go swimming.

And at the same time, I guess some safety stuff should have been issued considering the force of the jets to make that water swirl.


No $ could bring back those lives...but it may comfort their grief.

I'm still not convinced that the little girl didn't slip and fall into that pool. If so, I don't think it is unreasonable that the city would have more security in place than a sign for something that dangerous.

Thats tragic. It seems like the girl did slip, the intimidation factor alone should scare a child. Looking at those pictures, I would be very cautious around there.

My heart really goes out to the family. But it looks like the impatience of all caused the deaths.

Not only that, but regardless of the fact that there are no fences around the water, the gardens have MULTIPLE signs that say NO SWIMMING ALLOWED. They were recovered from the water with swimsuits on, PLUS the pool at their hotel was inoperable, which means that, despite the admonitions to do otherwise, to swim in that pool was their intent.

Now, I'm not going to call them stupid, and they certainly didn't deserve to die, but the ADULT in that situation sure didn't use good judgement.

,,, um-hum,, hmmmmm,,,, although i'm not following this thread at all,,, i can say on this reply, amen. finally some rational, logical thinking, but to no avail. some stupid-ess lawyers will turn this into a gold mine and probably get away with a huge payoff from the place that owns this pool thing to the family of the victums.
