2026 SWAC Basketball Tournament


Who drew up the crazy SWAC Basketball schedule. Usually the higher ranked team plays the lowest and so on. I see 3vs 4 (women Alcorn #3 versus #4). Or did someone post (on this site) the incorrect bracket.

Ok so it just wasn't me. lol That bracket is crazy

You aren’t going to see that with 12 teams. The ‘new” format rewards the higher seeds with byes or double byes and makes the lower seeded teams play more games to get to the championship.

You saw it wrong, 3 is playing 6 and 4 is playing 5. The lower seeds are basically having a play-in to make it to the round where the higher seeds are scheduled to play.
 
Think it's safe to say we are probably seeing the last game with Ivory as head coach

Easily the worst era of Valley basketball in the past 40 years

if you invite them they have a chance at crashing the party unfortunately

it's economics at the highest level - 24 teams - 12 bands - 12 cheer teams - 12 schools with administrators - fans

minimum 2-3 night hotel stays in the area
 
12 teams is definitely economics but I still prefer just like Gramfam a lesser amount of teams. I don't want them to even have a chance to crash the party.
 
Aamu women, Have the ability to play better. Belton has to get her feet under her.The point guard can't shoot or use left hand. The worst thing they don't do is block out.
They can out athlete and out size everybody at this level though.

Isn't that just more expenses for the schools? I get it that maybe you want all 12 Universities engaged in the tournament , but does the money filter down to those bottom 4 schools or is it just an extra expense to their budgets?
