It is all about the money now. Sad how they have just made it all about the dollars
That's not gonna last long outside of the major bowls though. The Celebration Bowl fills a niche spot that the others don't have the luxury of. On top of that, the schools in the P conferences aren't going to care about these games anymore. If you're not in the playoffs, for them it's like going to the NIT. Like yea, it's cool, but we don't really care for real.

Like I said over on meacfanzone, its about TV VIEWERS when it comes to bowl games.
Half of these bowl games won't even draw what was at the Celebration Bowl.
We know that. But when the lack of interest starts showing in the stands for a lot of these games that were able to draw AND get ratings, it's almost certain that there will be a lower interest in viewers too. Like for example, I didn't even know that Boise State bowl game was even coming on until I looked at the score for the Celebration Bowl. Two 8-4 teams and nobody really talked about it. I bet the ratings for that game aren't great either.

Thanks for the work you are putting into getting the updates. Those are a lot of bowl games. I guess we don't really realize how many bowl games are out there until we see the lineup of games listed.

DON'T get me wrong, yall. Nothing wrong with expecting or wanting more butts in the seats. Obviously, depending on who represents the SWAC will determine how many SWAC and Atlanta fans will show up to the CB. The MEAC teams have a good 3 weeks to make plans to attend. SC State, NC Central are the closest schools and will be there. It was the same way when A&T was in the MEAC [FAMU too]....them Aggies cometh! ;) 😁

Facts!

I know that JSU, Southern would bring that many fans alone!
JSU, Southern are a 6 and 8 hour drive from PVAMU, TX, the western most HBCU in the SWAC. How far do locals in those locales have to travel in either direction east/west to attend other venues? lol

I reviewed insipid commentary from SCSU fans relating their great attendance @ the CB and I lmao. Their little school is a 2.0-2.5 hr mule and buggy drive from the ATL. Why would 15K of their folk not show up w/ such a short drive?

We PV folk drive 2.0-2.5 hrs in all directions about our campus and we hit ut-austin's campus, txa&m b/cs campus, ~4-5 miles due south of baylor univ, hit uofh, hit rice, hit sTu, hit lamar univ, hit shsu, hit sfa, hit hcu, 30-40 miles from mcneese st, hit utsa, hit tx st, and are a short drive to smu, unt, and tcu. This is our centering and it's 100% in-state.

Logistics and distance are facts but it must be nice to be near or in the central area where all of that black "culture" lives in the central southern region. We are western by modern standards and damned near drive 1.2 hours JUST to get to the big airport IAH, depending on traffic.

Play nice to them Herb. They don't understand the issues with population and physical distance we have here locally. Our physical centering isn't HBCU; our centering is 100% pwi. Their physical centering is HBCU.

Ditto for the dfw metroplex. It's a closer drive from the dfw to hit ou's Norman campus than hit Grambling's campus. Live in Mesquite and drive to the dfw airport. Report that fact finding and distance. lmao :D ::insert retarded smiley::

Everything is far in Texas. We lived in Mansfield and it would almost take an hour to drive to Richardson, Plano and other areas in North Dallas.

Why not make it about both and getting the best of both worlds. From a looks stand point, there is a somewhat easy fix, only make seats available on the lower bowl and only open up the upper sections when most of the lower bowl seating is sold.

Thank God for the cajillion tollways around the metro areas of htown, dallas, fort worth, austin, IF there isn't a wreck. I was there when NTTA allowed tolltags to be used to drive through dfw airport. If you know, you know what I'm talking about for that shortcut.

;) I don't have an issue with that at all. The Atlanta Hawks used to do the same thing at their home games, ie, move folks down from the nosebleed sections to the lower levels when they were not full. I'm not against increased attendance at all. My point was that tv bowl games are about the number of tv viewers. ESPN could care less if the place was sold out but the viewership ranked at the bottom....ESPN would then kick the game to the curb regardless of how full the venue is. IJS...and yes, we can still do both, ie, packed game with high tv viewership.
