like someone said - winning all-swac award ANYTHING of the YEAR is a guaranteed portal ticket unfortunately unless the school can put the clamps on them

This. Most of these kids come to FCS/ HBCU's because not very much else was offered & they are always chasing something " better" (in their minds). I've never really followed HS recruiting & very little interest in the portal. Wish them luck & see who's there come fall practice.

Bruh I totally agree with you. This is why I can't understand why Maynor and our former OC caught so much slack for saying this. Man I work with a dude who's son is a top HBCU player. He got offered close to six figures just to come be on special teams. I put myself in these kids shoes. How you gonna tell a kid from the projects or broken home to turn down 100K to help his family to stay loyal when all he is getting is an extra meal card! I love HBCUS's and I'm pro black but I'm also older and understand now that in life you are only giving so many chances to get out of poverty quick. My mom ain't on welfare most of these kids moms are.

We have known for a long time the dilemma that FCS coaches face. They spend time developing a player that was not offered by an FBS school. But as soon as that FCS player has a good season, he will transfer for the next season. The coach will only get one year for all the time and effort put into that player.
That is why FCS coaches are required to recruit more and more from the portal. They have to let someone develop players and get them when they transfer. They have to go light on recruiting high school players now.
 



Yeah the coaches are in a real jam....win now or be replaced....although you are building a new team every year. The coaching community and NCAA will have to adapt to this new dynamic....More practice time must be made available in the spring and summer to allow for a better shot of developing a totally new team yearly...

they ain't even gotta be from the projects or broken homes. the kid could be straight outta the suburbs and that 6 figures is still gonna be tempting because it's money to use as a foundation to get started in life once college is over.
