2022 Southern University Football Schedule





This is so silly.. You folks voice your disdain of SOUTHERN U for scheduling two cupcakes and even more disdain for accepting $500k to be LSU’s cupcake.
Which is worst, Getting blown-out
“On-the-road” for popcorn and a coke by a mid-level FCS/SLC program or raking in $500k at home?
Everybody is Somebody’s cupcake..
We’re gonna use VUL/FMU to fine tune the offense/defense just the same as any FBS program will use the Swac/FCS programs.

Without any doubt, I fully credit JSU/Deion for injecting excitement/enthusiasm back into the Swac. Why can’t we all admit that JSU has led the way in thinking outside the box? Deion has given us the blueprint for success.

As long as there’s a mutual benefit, especially for Southern U or any other HCBU, I don’t see a problem.

I see both sides of the scheduling argument and understand the multiple mindsets. While I don't think irreparable harm will come from playing LSU, the historic significance is worth noting.

Back in 1987, I (initially) wasn't a fan on Jackson State playing USM. But after cramming into MM Roberts Stadium and witnessing us outgain and outplay the Golden Eagles, only to lose (by some flukey-duke officiating), I left realizing that we could compete favorably with them. So the 'fear' was removed sotospeak.

I hope SU has a good showing against the Bayou Bengals. I'll be rooting for them for sure. Both teams will have new couches and any given Saturday anything could happen...

I'll be waiting to see the clips with when the Jukebox blows 'Neck' back-and-forth with the Tiger Band... :-)

So you waiting to see the yt folk yell about sucking that tiger we we ? Jukebox bout to show them folks in Death Valley why black lives really do matter after the first note, dance move, and back bend… get em Southern !

As much as I dislike the Jukes (having marched in the Boom), I wanna see them drill some ruts in that field at halftime... Maybe the L, Circle or Star drill....

I am still holding out hope that the Gram / LSU game will not be played for principle sake. I took pride that SU and Gram were the only state schools not to play LSU in football.

It was brought to the attention of the Louisiana Legislature and a decision was made to keep this money in-state and add Southern University and Grambling to their schedule.
This is not only an historic event but also a smart business decision for both schools…
No, We don’t expect to beat Lsu, but due to the advent of the portal and smart coaching, we do expect to quit ourselves well while representing the Swac…

It would have been more historic to see Mel Blount or Harold Carmichael light their ass up. I forgot who the SU player was, but he said Billy Cannon (Heisman winner) would not have made the Jaguar squad during that time.

I rather do without this history as it is insignificant to play an integrated LSU team. For Grambling, it would be more historic to play an Iconic program more on our level.

There will be a unity show. They've already done it with LSU and Grambling so expect the same (since their BD is a JSU alum I believe)
