2019 Labor Day Classic Press Conference

That's only because of Lone Star Sports & Entertainment does their game. If we partnered up with them it would be better too. They have lower prices on tickets and food for their game. These are the same folks that does the Advocare Texas Kickoff and the Texas Bowl.

Obviously they weren't too involved as the LDC had NO semblance of continuity as it"flopped" from one venue to the next starting w/ the astrodome, to rice univ, to uofh's then robinson stadium, to then reliant stadium, to... No consistency. Historically, ticket/parking prices out the ying-yang.

It was a "flop" as soon as it was created, imho. The original idea creating it was good, considering how horrible both teams were at that time but the attention to detail to grow it into something great was never evident, imho. Couple that w/ fickle houstonian attitude and it's a sure-fire recipe for negative disaster relating appeal, notoriety, and attendance.

That's what I'm saying. They weren't involved at all. Each school did it on their own with who ever was the home team. It was never partnered with a outside promoter. The Texans and the Harris County Sports Authority never put their added touch to the game and hence the way it has turned out. In the beginning it was a success in my view with the number of fans that was coming to the game versus what we had coming with that game being at the end of the season. Lone Star Sports has taken the HBCU Classic's model and ran with it with PWI's.

President Simmons went 5th ward

I wanna’ say something but I cannot. :(

How are ticket sales looking? I sent email and made phone calls as I could last Monday so the $$$ excuse wouldn’t hold these fickle unsupportive houston area people hostage smgdh.

610 drive time radio show was all hyped about the battle of the bands. Asking if FAMU was coming. Both of them said they did not have a lot of experience with HBCU football. Think both A.D.’s & S.I.D.’s should contact them.

They must have been get the 2 events confused since there is a National HBCU Battle of the Bands on sunday.

I love PV President ... I wish our president was more like her. I see why she was a president of an Ivy League institution.

A successful and lively LDC will be 15,000 or more which I expect to happen

A successful and lively National BOTB will be 20,000 or more which I'm not sure on

The it is time to finally create a true classic. This has been suggested by many on multiple occasions.

This is not a true classic. It is simply a home & home football game.

Even when it was at NRG we operated on year to year contracts.

Expect an extremely successful and extremely lively LDC then!

I expect it to be one of the best ones since 2015 .... they game may not be super interesting but at least the people will show up and the bands will put on a show. The way Coach was talking during the luncheon, it sounds like this will be a "rebuilding year" so low expectations.

Also due to the projected "rebuilding year" ... I'll be surprised if the Texas Showdown in Dallas continues because if we have another bad season, hardly any alums will travel to Dallas for the game hence it will be cancelled.

More, because your fans will have to decide on how they will spend their money with that game and y'alls homecoming so close together.
