2018 SWAC Championship game relocated

To be completely honest, I think this is great news and even something like an act of God, Himself! The SWAC office hadn't gotten it right and was continuing to fumble from year to year. This could be the start of a solution to a problem we've faced for years. This will provide the nation (fans, students, athletes, etc.) with a better/more accurate view of what WE do at OUR Universities. Campus atmosphere will definitely be electric for this game no matter who lands host of it! Great exposure from the comfort of home with packed crowds is a win on any day. Sure, there will be a few kinks to work out as far as member schools with smaller venues, parking and traffic, visitor accommodations, etc. but this is going to force the powers that be to think and plan more effectively.

Being that Alcorn has the best record, there’s only 2 Hotels near Alcorn and they’re 200 miles away. That’s gone be a mess. It’ll still be good for Alcorn financially which is dope.

False information
Vicksburg, Natchez and Vidala

I understand that Alcorn is small, but how do they handle Homecoming crowds? They seem to make it work

I see you've never tried to go there for their homecoming game. Traffic is a nightmare on that last stretch to their campus.

This is about to be the smallest attended SCG ever (only because of the venue, not the teams involved).

What?!!!!!!!!!!!!

Alcorn stadium is about 22000 plus they can also put temporary seats in the end zone like when they host Jackson st . The only problem I see is if the game will be general admission or reserved seating ? How will the swac split the tickets for each school.

Exactly. Great common sense move.

The irony of Conference USA's title game format having an impact on the SCG isn't lost on me.

In the end, this will be a great move. Showcasing our on-campus facilities and passionate fan bases. 20K looks better in a stadium that holds 25K than an NFL stadium. Now, the games will mean even more since home field advantage will go to the eligible division representative with the best record. With the 7-game conference schedule, this will present an opportunity for either a fresh matchup (including this year if Alcorn loses one more SWAC game) or a rematch.

My wife and I are already talking about going back home and going to the SCG.

My biggest question is if we have schools like PV Valley and Grambling who Stadium's only seat 19,900 and under.. how do you work it..... And that's not a knock towards any school named because I believe PV has one of the most beautiful stadiums in the SWAC
To the victor goes the spoils. They win their division and have a good enough record... they host (in this format). Get your tickets early.

I'd imagine the SWAC would sell/split tickets the same way they did for other championship games

Plus folks will be able to save money for the celebration bowl. Great Move by the new Commish. It’s really not hard, just takes a little common sense.
I really think this was possible the thinking in this move and less financial obligation to host a conference championship at a neutral location. Many fans can make the turnaround trip in most instances and save up for the Celebration Bowl. I think there is probably a big push to get the attendance numbers up.

Only those not going to the SCG. More of the folks not affiliated with either of the schools involved will not plan to attend the SCG since they wouldn't know where it will be held. Logistics is much harder for the schools involved also since they will not know where it will be held with very little leeway for future years. At this time, it's easier to figure out since we know it will most likely be Alcorn. You still have to find hotel space further away than usual since it's not in a major city where you would have more choices.

I think we need to keep in mind that this decision to move the SCG on campus is (as far as I know) just for this year. There is nothing that indicates that his will be the case for next year.

Naw. Best record hosts. Reward the team and fan base that ran through the regular season.
You say that now, but folks better hope AAMU don't roll off 3 straight divisional championships. And what happens when both teams finish with the same record and hasn't played each other.
