It is impressive that the homecoming attendance at both rural Alcorn and Grambling exceeded greatly the attendance at their urban rivals in J-State and Southern U.

As a matter of fact, Southern U looks more like the rural school looking at their 2017 attendance as a whole. It proves sustained tradition over time cannot be understated.

Really smh. You know a Hurricane came to BR that day and the game time was altered

Forgot about that, but 13K on a beautiful day in BR against PV is shocking considering you are in the SWAC (on paper). SU’s home attendance (dating back beyond 2016) in general is on par with Gram despite the obvious population differences.

GSU had two home games last year lol. Homecoming and a rival alcorn. Plus our two biggest draws (JSU and Alcorn) haven’t been to Mumford since 15. Watch next season.

ARE YOU REALLY comparing Alcorn and GSU to a team that hasnt won but 12 games in 4 years. C'mon guy. If anything, you would have had a more valid point with just naming SU being they are still a winning program. But jsu is 1-7, so they are self explanatory.

No it wasnt. The size of the stadium just makes it look that way, especially since no one ever actually sit on one number.

You're correct. With the exception of Alabama State's band, the visitor's side of the stadium was visibly empty. People were spread out on the home side and in the horseshoe. Most JSU fans decide if they are going to a game the week of the game. JSU fans just have found something else to do.

I attended a game at GSU a few years ago when TxSU visited. There were no more than 1200 actual people in attendance. I sat on the visitors' side where no more than 50 persons were seated in addition to the TSU band. But the the attendance was reported the next day at more than 9000. Gsu does what some PWS like ULM does, i.e., report higher numbers than there are butts in the seats.

Y'all only won 12 games in 4 years? I didn't know it was that bad. Po TP!

Game against SC State on a scorching hot Sunday Afternoon was not going to be a big draw, especially with it being televised.

Fort Valley State just isn't an attractive opponent

Homecoming was altered due to the impending threat of a Hurricane (the game ended with a huge monsoon in the 4th quarter)

Our last home game typically has lighter attendance than the other games for some reason.

When we get to host Alcorn and JSU next year along with a homecoming not threatened by a natural disaster, you will see our numbers hop back up.

I knew why y’all were coming to us again this year but why Alcorn? That should have been a home game for you guys since you went there last year I would think. Or is it the same situation as us?

They claimed the master SWAC schedule was computer generated.

What hurricane?
Hurricane Nate

Tbh, they had buses coming from Houston for that game against scsu. The hurricane stopped them. The pv game drew better than I expected. I thought it was 15k plus
