It's called being a YOUNG TEAM. Funny no one is saying that about Kentucky basketball right now.

JR, ya'll ain't Kentucky... and ya'll were not THAT young. No younger than JSU or any other team. And even in some spots where we might have played a Sr or a transfer, that might have been their first year starting. We only lost one RB, one WR and our QB whom we won't miss. LOL from offense. We return a lot as well but if we were returning our coaching staff, we would STILL be in trouble. If this staff can coach a LITTLE, the SWAC is in trouble. I know we have to wait and see but the best staffs in BCF seem to be at JSU, NCA&T, Alcorn and AAMU right now. Southern's staff is going to have ya'll cussin before mid season.

bruh

when you aint got nothing, there's nothing to talk about Lol...notice the pages in the threads created about the schools in this conference (spring day threads) LOL...this thread is almost triple platinum with post (300 post) and others threads are barely moving...aint got nothing to talk about...no mention of this player or that player, smh....aint got nothing to talk about...oh well

(crater face chuckles)

We have plenty to talk about. :D We are excited in the Den.. that's why we are out here talking shitt 'cause we know "we aight got no worries"! :D

For a four star receiver to leave lsu and have no stats plus get redshirted… something is wrong with him lol. Whether it is grades, injury etc. No smart coach redshirts a four star receiver. And good quality four star receivers or any position does not come to the swac to sit. But we are extremely scared of chuck! Saw his highlighs and I was like  looks like a typical possession receiver. No incredible 4.2 speed or 6'6" height. Hmmm

Ok. You just exposed your knowledge of college football. First you bashed JSU's lone "high profile" recruit, now this.

Lord JSU. Times sure have changed. I remember I used to be at war with SU folks every week and agreed with JSU folks often. Now and days, ya'll just post crap just for fun.

Carry on.

Exactly.. believe.

You can't call 50 people beasts and then try to act like you knew something when two of them turn out to be...

You are still backing down from my challenge. Name one kid I called a beast and turn out to be a bust? I named a few kids I called beast on your request and most of them are at the top of the SWAC. Now it's your move! Please expose me!

Im 19. I exposed my little knowledge on college football of course. I post for my entertainment.

jsu has only won 1 football championship since you were two years old. I don't blame you for posting for your entertainment. :emlaugh: Keep on posting though.

Who's worried about yall? I had only posted once in this whole thread until SuJagTillheDead said yall had "10-13 dogs at RB"... :emlaugh: I really can't stop laughing at that... :emlaugh:

I have been to practice, unlike the majority of folks on this board. I stand behind what I said

Just having fun talking shat, . I don't give a damn if they listen .

that's the beauty of it. folks think they know so much about other schools that they refuse to listen to anything. some probably can tell you more ish on your team than their own and thats real pathetic.

I'm jumping in here late, but the key to our whole start of this season relies on three people, CG, DO, Shorts. How much they trust the youngster is gonna be key in the first two games and how much priority they place on those two games. Last year they only placed emphasis on conference games, but hopefully they have realized that our fan-base is not just interested in winning JUST conference games, especially when the non-conference games are in-state schools.

As for Shorts, I agree that you don't just walk onto a college football field and just light it up your first time. Personally I'm not expecting that from him. I am expecting him to feel things out, get his barrings and adjust to the speed of the college game and taking a college hit. These things you just cant get in practice. Sure he is a better athlete than Dray, but Dray had experience and the staff trusted him to work things out and gave him the green light in certain situations. I don't expect them to just give that to Shorts this early in his career. He will most probably be held back and forced to depend on those weapons around him early in the year, which is surely not a bad thing considering what is around him.

Our defense, in my opinion is better, but stopping the run will still be key. Now one thing I can say about them for the upcoming year is they WILL HIT YOU, and I mean HIT YOU HARD. Their mentality is so much different from last year. EVERY lick comes with BAD INTENTIONS now. They seem to send messages with every lick. If Coach O can keep them in position to make plays, things should be fine. If they can hold teams under 20 then we should win those games.

I can see our upcoming season going one of three ways:

1. If the coaching staff is ultra-conservative the first couple of games we will loose them and if by the time SWAC play rolls around and they still have that mentality we will end up with 7 and 5 to 8 and 4 type record.

2. If the coaching staff is conservative vs ULL we will loose, but realizes quickly that they need to let the team grow up and by the next game opens things up we could be looking at a 9 and 3 type season.

3. Unfortunately, being realistic about the whole thing, the staff could stay conservative the entire season, not let the athletes do their thing with some type of idea of preparing them for the future and resting on a Championship of last year and we could end up 6 and 6. But I honestly don't think this will be the case.

I think, but I hope I am wrong, that it will be more like #1. I still think Coach O is primarily only concerned about winning the conference and won't place the proper emphasis on those in-state, out of conference games and we will have to come into our own during conference play. Again I hope I am wrong....

Overall our Staff has improved though and we do have more talent on both sides of the ball than last year, but they are all still young. They have never been in this situation before, just like last year when they played to the level of who was across from them, that's why TP you saw Overtime so much and close games, they didn't actually know how to win. We are talking about 18, 19, 20 year old kids. Who knows how they will react in a situation. If they show up on Saturdays thinking that that "S" on their chest and a Championship ring is gonna get them over, well they will be in for some long Saturday nights. Fortunately, I don't get that vibe from them. But again they are youngsters so who knows....The Talent is definitely there and they seem to still be hungry so we shall see.....

Dude, the ONLY reason this thread is still open is because the moderator and JSU folks wasting time BS-ing with su folks who are delusional to think their team will run through the SWAC undefeated.

It does not matter if you have been to practice or not, YOU of ALL posters are the least credible when it comes to SU. YOU would think SU can compete with LSU and the New Orleans Saints.

He was right last year when he said we were going to win the SWAC, even after the first 2 games.

Maybe he was but just because he was right ONE time out of the last 4-5 years does not give him credence. LOL Dude normally says SU will win at least 8 games and they end up winning 3 or 4. Lets see what ya'll say when you barely make 5.00 this year.

I liked Ib4demjags post but all of this about a defense that was just as bad in their last game as they were in their first game makes no sense to me. The SWAC might be tougher this year so I don't see SU getting by like they did last year especially not without a QB. PVs defense might still be bad so that game might be another shoot out but I still can't see SU beating that. Shorts is facing a bad defense at practice. When he faces AlaState, Alcorn, JSU, NWState, and ULL, he will break.
