</time>Arkansas-Pine Bluff did not meet expectations in 2013.

Picked to win the SWAC West a year ago, the Golden Lions stumbled to 0-7 start before finishing a disappointing 2-9 under Monte Coleman.

“I want to get that taste out of my mouth,â€￾ Coleman said as his group prepares for the 2014 season.

UAPB does return an offense that finished in the top half in most major categories under starter Ben Anderson, who threw for 2,506 yards and 19 touchdowns in addition to rushing for 91 yards per game last year.

Anderson’s production is expected to be bolstered by former Alabama A&M head coach Anthony Jones, who now serves as offensive coordinator.

If you ask Coleman what hampered the Golden Lions, he will immediately point to a defense that allowed 36.6 points and 456 yards per game. UAPB surrendered 40 or more points in eight of the 11 contest last season. Only Grambling State was worse on the defensive side of the ball.

Yea, Our defense was pitiful at best! I could score on them! But Offensively we were decent to pretty good! Shore up some spots in the o-line and we will be straight next season.

Go Lions!

All of those guys that were gone coming back? The only positive I see is the qb anderson. I will be watching uapb closely

Well you took 2 steps backwards hiring Jones as OC.

We have a lot of the players that were out last season coming back. We will be straight in spite of whatever the OC lacks! (I hope)

Wow, if all those guys are coming back who were out last year, PB will be a force to be reckoned with in the West.

UAPB has always been like this...they win big and then struggle somehow the next year with the same talent

They won it all in 2006, then struggled in 07 with Mallet, Dean, etc

they were beasts in the 90s when they had big running backs, linemen, defensive backs but never could win the big game

They better take advantage of the fact that they have the best qb in the conference in ol "Ice cold" Ben Anderson. He single-handedly beat us last year.
