But Jrock said he was getting stronger.:noidea:
He did, but he was at his number. Cador should have never let him come out for the 8th. He had already got out of 2 or 3 bases loaded jams. You have a 6 run lead, put a reliever in, to start the inning. But we as fans always second guess when things don't go our way. Cador has forgot more baseball than I know lol.

You say what you say every year too. It ain't over yet but the East has made a statement that it's caught up to the West in baseball talent, especially since Bama State has gotten better and JSU finally shows up in the tournament.
SU has to win four straight games to make it to the finals. That's REALLY tough.

3 straight. Cador has done it before. It's going to be tough though. Really tough. It has never been about talent, especially with JSU. It's been coaching lol.

WOW...

Sacrifice bunt with a error by the 1b and ASU scores 2 to win the game 10-9

Say what now....

Melendez has easily earned every dime of his contract with the way he's re-built Hornet baseball in just 2 yrs. Game management, keeping the guys in the fight to the very end.... How many SWAC coaches would have the cahoneys to even try a sac bunt at that stage....

Omar does it when not called for....

Omar does this all the time...he just cant do it in the tourney...you dont beat good OOC teams and win your division years straight without being half way decent!

Yea, coach stretched him just a little too much. But that was one hell of a game. Coach Cador is a veteran and the man though so I never second guess him because he knows what he is doing and knows his personnel better than anyone.

Every SWAC team would have tried that then. I won't say that is the only option at that moment. But, it was the best option.

1 out, the tying runner on 3rd, SU looking like a deer in headlights....:uhoh::eek: That was an easy call to make. I give Bama State credit for preparation and execution. The batter put down a good bunt and "of course" SU couldn't field it. (Sidenote: SU hasn't been able to field the bunt since '07....ain't that right Jafus, Bandfan, Robber, Folka)

Congrats to Bama State for winning. That game was an emotional roller coaster. Bama State is on a high and SU looked dejected.

On another note, JSU has looked the best it's ever been in the tournament since the 90's. They have played with that old "swagger" from back in the day. We TSPN'ers sat up there yesterday and saw how they mentally beat Alcorn. Many times, we've seen JSU come in the #1 seed from the East (and on many occasions, with the best overall record) and look lost and couldn't beat the the #4 seed from the West. This year's team looks better. Ethan at 1st is getting on DCG's nerves....LOL. Dude can stretch!!! He makes a potential close play not close with his range. And the outfield is running down nearly everything.....but that's nothing new at JSU.

I hope my Jags can pull it together, but it will be a tough road to climb.

Lastly, I know everyone likes football but we really need to go out and support our schools baseball program. With the exception of 2 games, there's been some good defense played so far. And good close games.

Day 3 is about to start, Holla.

This year we have lost 3-4 games like this. Starter does great for 7 plus, Cador stretches them, lets them load the bases up, and then brings in the reliever in a pressure situation. If he makes the change at the beginning of the 8th inning, SU wins this game. Every coach makes mistakes though. Even the Hall of Fame, legendary, Roger Cador. I wouldnt want any other coach.

Main reason why I said that East-West crap don't mean jack. Any team can be beat, lol at the right mix of teams.
yes it does. Check the stats, numbers dont lie. Bama St. help pick up the quality of play on that side. For years and years, JSU and Alcorn wasnt tested, it was always a 2 team race. Competition makes you better. But let me use the famous SWACPAGE excuse  . Its a down year in the West  . SU basically won the west with walkons playing the majority of the year.

But it seems the east has step up this year. Its not over yet though.

He's Hispanic. That may have played a role but the PB coach did do a good job this year. It could've gone either way.

I dont think that had anything to do with it. Last year Merlendez should have been COY no question. This season I think they got it right. PB finished in last place last season, and could have won the West on the last weekend this year, but lost to PV. No other school had a bigger turnaround.

SMH I disagree but hey...

I have to agree with him. How else do you explain J State past abysmal tourney play? Having another good divisional program in the East can only enhance the quality of play. Everyone knew when Melendez landed at Bama State that they meant business. And, either everyone was going to step up their play or falter. Jsu has answered the bell in spite of not winning a series from Bama State this year. Let's see how this all end..........There is still that Eastern division albatross in this tourney that Jsu hasn't overcome in conjunction to the tourney..........Yes? :emlaugh:

What does JSU's abysmal play last year have to do with this year? At any given time a SWAC team can lose, it doesnt matter which side your on.

This year team is battle tested and has taken it to the next level. In the past you guys was a big fish in a little pond and it showed in tourney play. We'll have to agree to disagree on this. But I understand well what SUjagTilliDie is saying.

I was thinking of them doing that at that point in the game. With runners on 2nd and 3rd and 1 out down by 1 run, you can play small ball to score that tying run. They got a bonus with the error to get the winning run across too.
