2013 Key OOC games

Re: 2013 Key OOC games..

Lawd, these 4-7 Southern folks. NW State must be predicted to go 0-11.

How about you worry about trying to beat Tennessee State, and let us worry about Northwestern State. I can see if you saw us saying that we would beat Houston, but Northwestern State?

Re: 2013 Key OOC games..

Good analysis stroke.

I beg to differ. If last year is any barometer, Grambling will get smoked by Lamar.
Bama State will probably make a game of it against Jacksonville State if Barlow stays away from the offense.
su will get rolled by Houston. That's an easy one. Northwestern will anger su fans once again by throttling them up and down the field.
AAMU will give SC State a good game.
Valley will make a game of it against Delta State until the third quarter.
JSU will give Tenn. State a run for it's money. Tulane will beat JSU but not by five TD's.(hint, hint)
PB will give McNeese a decent first half game.
PV should beat Abilene.

NwSt looks pretty strong to me (from last fall)...

Somebody didn't see the final score P. 44 - 6.

Yep, it was blowout central by tx tech. But NwSt sure was quite active (athletic). I know the qb graduated but what about their returnees? (if no elgibility issues arise)

Re: 2013 Key OOC games..

So y'all are mad, SU fans think we will beat NSU  . Just like y'all were mad, a lot of SU folk were calling for us to upset Gongzaga. It's a reason SU is usually the only SWAC school to win OCC, like someone said, we don't have a inferiority complex.

Re: 2013 Key OOC games..

what OOC game you won?

Broadway beat Northwestern State and had Louisiana Tech on the ropes with a freshman QB as he played ball control

Well we only played 2 last season and we won 1 (FAMU) and lost the other. Just worry about PV staying on the field with ACU. LOL.

2012 beat FAMU and lost to FBS New Mexico. 1-1

2011 got throttled by Tenn State and lost a very close game to FAMU. 0-2

2010 beat Delaware State and lost to UA-Monticello 1-1

2009 lost to ULL and beat Tennessee State, Central State, and Fort Valley State 3-1

2008 lost to Houston, FAMU, and Tennessee State (The FAMU and Tennessee State games were wild!!!!) 0-3

2007 beat FAMU and Tennessee State 2-0

2006 beat Bethune Cookman and lost to NCCU 1-1

So since 2006, SU is 8-9 in OOC games. And may I add this time frame featured some of the worst SU teams in the history of our football program.

Dude, wins and losses has to do with talent and coaching coming together at the same time, not no imaginary inferiority complex. If inferiority was the case, you guys wouldn't have lost a game outside of the conference against those D-2 schools. Sheesh.

Please supply the facts for this statement, because what I know is different.

You'll be waiting all day. :emlaugh: I just wish some of these other schools stop embarrassing the conference every Labor Day in this SWAC/Meac Challenge.

There is a pretty common theme going on when it comes to winning out of conference in significant situations

Baseball: S.U. Most NCAA playoff wins
Basketball: S.U. Last SWAC team to make it past the 1st round of NCAA Tourney
Football: S.U. 2nd most wins against out of conference FCS programs (1. Gram 94 2. S.U. 73 3. Jsu 55)
Football: S.U. most wins against non HBCU FCS programs
Football: S.U. Only SWAC team to win SWAC/meac challenge

I think we have a chance to sweep both the MEAC as well as the OVC this year and that would be a much needed break of luck for the swac. I really believe we're going to beat Jax State and pretty darn bad at that. I may come home for this one I know its going to be a Full House.

Re: 2013 Key OOC games..

All I can say, I remember taking approximately a 2-hour drive from Lynchburg, VA to Greensboro, NC in 2002 with one of my fraternity brothers who graduated from Morgan State to watch a particular school in the SWAC get whipped by NCA&T. The finally score was North Carolina A&T 42 that Inferior SWAC School 36. It was a long drive back to Lynchburg for me after witnessing that azz whipping. But later I found out that Inferior SWAC School had never won against North Carolina A&T. The following year Southern gain back some respect for the SWAC by defeating NCA&T 35 - 16.

Toward the end of the season I believe they changed their starting line up but for the final game it showed 4 of their 5 offensive lineman leaving. (Never good) 3 of their 4 starting dl are gone, 2 of 3 lbs. The only thing that will help I guess is that most of their secondary return but other than that I see Northwestern struggling this year. I think we beat them but you never know. They open with MO State who finished 3-8 but loss to North Dakota State by 4.

Well how was the drive back when A&T beat SU in Indy when ya'll entered the game 5-0? Very long I assume.

Again, you ain't hardly beat nobody in or out of conference lately. Haven't you had like THREE losing seasons in a row? Make it 4.
