Defenses lead North Dakota State, Sam Houston to title game

North Dakota State and Sam Houston State are true believers in the football bromide that offense may sell tickets, but defense wins championships. They have followed this philosophy all the way to the Championship Subdivision title game Saturday in Frisco, Texas.

In the FCS Huddle: 2012 to be filled with FCS storylines

Philadelphia, PA – In 2006, the use of Division I-AA was officially dropped and the division was renamed the Football Championship Subdivision.

And while on the surface it was a big change, in all reality it was the norm as the FCS goes through minor - and sometimes massive - changes each and every year.

Some years, the changes are big, like expanding the playoff field to 20 teams in 2010 and giving the Northeast and Big South conferences automatic bids to their champions. Other years, it could be as simple as a team completing the transition from Division II or NAIA to Division I (which seems to happen every year).

NDSU hopes to minimize FCS title game distractions

FARGO, N.D. (AP) — The road routine for the North Dakota State football team is routine: fly out Friday afternoon, eat, hold team meetings, go to bed, get up on Saturday morning and play a game. That won't be the case this week.

The NCAA Division I Football Championship Subdivision title game Saturday in Frisco, Texas, against Sam Houston State is a different animal that carries the potential for distractions. Bison head coach Craig Bohl addressed that concern with his team on Sunday

Sam Houston's offense is high-powered as well. They will be the best FCS offense NDSU has faced.

The way Sam Houston took out every year power MONTANA, I don't see NDSU beating them. BUT.........Anything can happen. NDSU did beat the crap out of #3 Georgia Southern 35-7 in the semi's.

BTW:
You know I got to do it.

If you are the best on your level, you should not be scared of a playoff system. The top 4 regular season teams in FCS made it to the semi's and the regular season #1 and #2 is in the championship game. DO YOU SEE THIS BC-MESS.

Semifinals - December 16 & 17
(1) Sam Houston State def. (4) Montana 31-28

(2) North Dakota State def. (3) Georgia Southern 35-7
