Atleast at my house. I think they already made the decision to play tommorrow. SU outfield holds water in spots, so unless they bring a helicopter out like they did for LSU's regionals a couple of seasons ago, I doubt they could get it in.

Just went over to the baseball field. The warning track and about 10 feet around it is under water..3rd base foul line looks bad also..We will see.

Wow! I wonder if we can get some animals to go drink all the water up.

So does this mean that the game will start over since it did not reach the 5th inning to become a official game?

Yep because the game is not official.

I wonder how they will twist these rules.

NCAA Baseball Rules said:
RULE 5 / THE GAME?ITS BEGINNING AND ENDING

Halted Game

SECTION 9. a. A game that has been stopped at any time after its start
because of inclement weather, darkness, light failure or curfew may be
continued by mutual agreement reached before the start of the contest
by the competing institutions, or according to conference or tournament
policy, to a predetermined point of completion
. Any such game must
meet the conditions of Rule 5-8 to be considered a regulation game. A
halted game is for special conditions and is not intended to supersede the
conditions of a regulation game.
b. A halted game must resume play at exactly the point of being halted,
with the lineups and batting orders of both teams exactly the same,
subject to the rules of substitution; any player (or pitcher) who played,
or was announced as a substitute before the game was halted, must be in
the lineup when play resumes or be ineligible for the remainder of the
game.
c. The halted-game procedure also may be used in nonconference games,
but this agreement clearly should be understood and mutually be
agreed upon by the coaches and directors of athletics of the competing
institutions before the start of the contest.
d. If a league, conference or tournament committee wishes not to be bound
by the tie-game rule and wishes to complete a regulation tie game from
the point at which the game was halted, it may do so by stating same
when formally opting to use the halted-game rule. Otherwise, a game
stopped with the score tied is considered a tie game, not a halted game.
e. When a halted game is part of a doubleheader, it shall be the first game,
and the second game shall be the regularly scheduled game for that
date; if a doubleheader is scheduled, it shall be the first game of three
games.

No Game

SECTION 11. ?No game? shall be declared by the umpire if play is
terminated before five innings have been completed by each team
.
Exception 1?If the team last at bat is at bat in the last half of the fifth
inning and equals, before the completion of that inning, the score of the side
first at bat, the umpire shall declare the contest legally tied.
If the team last at bat shall have made more runs at the end of its fourth
inning, or before the completion of its fifth inning, than the team first at bat
has made in five completed innings, the umpire shall award the game to the
team second at bat; and it shall count as a legal game.
Exception 2?Teams previously have agreed to play by the halted-game
rule (see 5-9).

SWAC Suspends Play on Day One of 2008 Baseball Tournament
By SWAC MR
May 14, 2008
Baton Rouge, LA ? Play has been suspended on day one of the 2008 Southwestern Athletic Conference Baseball Tournament due to inclement weather.

Game two featuring Alcorn State (Eastern Division #2) and Prairie View A&M (Western Division #3) was underway when play was suspended. The Braves were up 2-1 over the Panthers at the top of the third inning.

The Alcorn State-Prairie View game will pick-up at 9:00 a.m. in the morning, weather permitting. The rest of Wednesday?s scheduled games will follow.

It's a shame there are no live stats from the games. It'd make it much easier to follow the tournament. Lee-Hines needs to get a working Internet. Does any SWAC baseball facility have this?

I do not know why anyone thought they would start the game over...

Interested to see how the schedule plays out with the possibility of more rain. Rain can really throw a damper into things...

Showers just left Houston about a hour ago and is heading east. There is another front thats suppose to be here around noon and it's heading east also.

It raining now on my end and thundering a little bit. *sigh*

We are getting pounded with that goodness right now. I think it's safe to say today will be a wash as well :(

Im staying in south baton rouge, its pouring harder than yesterday!:smh:

Looking at the news, the storm from houston will hit here all day today. Thunderstorm warnings and tornado warnings are in effect.

Some schools are closed around the hammond area.

Looks like they will have to play some games at area fields....1 bracket at 1 location and 1 bracket at another. if that is done, then each bracket play 3 or 4 games on friday and saturday.....maybe 1 game early sunday morning before the championship.

Bring em to houston. The astros are away I believe and McGregor is in great condition

Astros are back on monday playing the cubs....i got tickets to the game :)

I'm just looking for an excuse to bring em to houston -- From what I heard the worst case scenario is having a Single game elimination, meaning Grambling would already be eliminated, but the way my source sounded is that their are going to be some games played at LSU
