SWAC Baseball Tournaments are ALWAYS the most eventful. lol. Anything that can happen does happen at the SWAC Baseball Tourney. JSU's game probably won't stat to midnight or something. lol.

Like a few years ago with shooting outside the baseball field that let SU and Pv players scrambling.

yes. it was horrible. there were more people laid out on the ground than a late night deliverance service at Davis Temple.

:lmao:
STOP IT MAN... YOU"RE KIDDING ME RIGHT?
I've never been in DAVIS TEMPLE but I've heard about it. Matter Fact, while driving down Dalton I've seen them laid out at the front entrance....... outside the sanctuary.

well other than bad weather i pray nothing wild goes on this year.

The Southwestern Athletic Conference tournament returns today to Southern?s Lee-Hines Field for the first time since 2003, but the Jaguars are far from the dominant favorite they were with Rickie Weeks tearing up the basepaths.

This one, with a new format concluding with a single, TV-friendly championship game, features teams with plenty to prove.

Western Division champion Southern is trying to regain the feel of its recent run of eight titles in 10 years, ending in 2005. ? Prairie View is the two-time defending champion. ? Grambling, which once dominated the conference with Jackson State and SU, is in its first tournament since 2002. ? And Eastern Division champ Jackson State is looking for its first championship since 2000.

Plus, Mississippi Valley State, Alabama State and Alcorn State, with an explosive offense, are looking for a breakthrough tournament title, which Texas Southern notched in 2004.

?We?re all ready to go,? Southern coach Roger Cador said.

The Southwestern Athletic Conference tournament?s return to Lee-Hines Field for the first time since 2003 offers a chance to remember Southern?s team that season.

Behind college baseball?s player of the year, Rickie Weeks, the Jaguars went 47-7, with their third straight SWAC tournament title. SU won its NCAA tournament opener 5-3 over host Southern Mississippi and in the second game led Baylor 2-1 through five innings and was tied with the Bears 3-3 through six before falling 10-3, giving up five runs in the ninth. SU then lost an elimination game with Southern Miss.

?We were awfully good,? Southern coach Roger Cador said. ?We took on a bunch of challengers. ? We had a lot of good players. They were a group of kids to be reckoned with.?

Other hitters besides Weeks, of the regulars that season, were Marcus Townsend (drafted by the Reds), Antoin Gray (drafted by the White Sox), Andrew Toussaint (drafted by the Angels in ?04), Fernando Puebla (drafted by the Rays), Kevin Vital (drafted by the Astros), Joey Mouton and Brandon Mason.
