Man I thought they said she was 38 not 32. she was doing the volt.

Man I'm glad the Olympics are on. It will help these next two weeks pass by fast.
 
Spitz, once the star, upset over Beijing snub

HONG KONG (AFP) - US swim legend Mark Spitz won't be on hand in Beijing if Michael Phelps breaks his record of seven gold medals at a single Olympics?because, he says, no one bothered to invite him.

Spitz said the International Olympic Committee, a US television network or FINA?the international body that governs world swimming?should have brought him to the Games this year, with Phelps making a go at his record.

"I never got invited. You don't go to the Olympics just to say, I am going to go. Especially because of who I am," Spitz told AFP in Hong Kong.

"I am going to sit there and watch Michael Phelps break my record anonymously? That's almost demeaning to me. It is not almost?it is."

My wife and I commented that he sure looked like a "doofuss" sitting up there.....he doesn't have a clue as to what is going on in the real world.

This joker sitting in the stands watching an athletic contest and he leans over to Putin' and says "I don't like what's going on in one of the break-away republics and the U.S. takes a strong stance against your using bombs and other military weapons against those people"........

It would seem to me that if I were going to attempt to talk to another world leader at the Olympics.........one would request a meeting and determine whether its going to take place, where, when and what time??? :confused:
 
I was watching the swimming freestyle 4x100 and when the US came from behind to take the Gold, the French team didn't know what to do after it was being reported that they were going to smash the Americans in that event.
 
1. Dominique Dawes is still hot.

2. I hear this argument every Olympics that the non-NBA/WNBA/soccer/ softball/baseball beach volleyball and tennis players are not professional athletes. I believe they are pros. They might be deemed amature in name only, but those athletes are treated, trained and compete like professionals leading up to the Olympics.

While there is no professional swimming league, Michael Phelps is being endorsed like a professional athlete. Anyone who tells you that those athletes are not professional, are lying.

Countries have been using professional athletes in the Olympics for decades, and it really grinds my gears when Americans say they can't get behind Team USA basketball because they are professional players.
 
Is it just me....or does it seem like every swim event I watch a world record is set....wtf.......:confused:......is it the new swimming uniforms?

Phelps looks a little "slow" at times......looks like he was having a "short bus" moment on the medal stand........

It is a combination of the things:
  • new swimming uniforms by Speedo
  • deeper pool - this one is 9 feet instead of the usual 6 feet - allows for more resistance due to more depth
  • wider pool - an extra lane on each side of the pool
  • gutters on the edge - which decreases the wave action
All of those combined make the swimmers go faster.

I don't think she is still competing though.. Dawes has to be about 30 - 32 or so by now...

Them China girls ain't no dayum 16 ...The younger you are usually the better you are when it comes to gymnastics...

But China is a dayum beast at gymnastics though... Our men?s who wasn't expected to metal got Bronze... Went into their last apparatus in Silver position but Japan took it on the high bars which was a very strong apparatus for them and the horse which was a very weak one for the US...

Yall saw the relay race when 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, AND 5th broke the WORLD RECORD.. With US taking 1st and France taking 2nd...

That schiiit was crazy.... They showed the world record line the whole race.. They were making that world record line look like the qualifying line....lol
