2007 thru 2010 FAMU Football Schedules

Are you sure this is correct? You all are basically playing the same teams 4 years in a row? That can't be right.

Speaking of schedules, does anybody have their schedule completed for release yet?

Antroy if you are talking about the SU game. 4 year contract.

In 07 FAMU to SU
In 08 SU to FAMU
In 09 FAMU to SU
In 10 SU to FAMU

With the exception of SU and Tenn. State, those same teams 4 years in a row are conference games.

Looks like the MEAC is just as bad as the SWAC pre-2008 schedules...only two nonconference games :smh:

Since MEAC expansion of Winston-Salem State (bringing the conference to 10-football participating members and 9-game conference schedule) this past off-season, the MEAC football schedule has become similar to the current SWAC 9-game mandate. Considering Florida A & M has a long-standing rival and contractual game with Tennessee State in the Atlanta Classic. That on left one non-conference game to schedule and Florida A & M and Southern announced this past off-season that they were re-establishing the rivalry between the two schools with a 4-year contract.

Florida A & M
Non-Conference Schedule

Tennessee State (Atlanta Classic)
Southern (Away and Home)

I don't know if those schedules will be correct. A recent statement by bama state AD Ron Dickerson.

Ron Dickerson informed the committee that he was working on a multi-year deal to play FAMU in the GCC (gulf coast classic), starting in 2008.

I also heard Coach Braddy was in talks to get them on the schedule in 08 also but that' what lil birdie told me

This will be their schedule for the next four years and all the talk in Meacfans about us playing us and they are about to do the same thing with no PWc's listed. Cholly will say they still have the option to advance to the playoffs and win the championship but will not play a non HBCU for the next four years. The Meac has become the SWAC and we are about to go back to competitive football in 2008.:lmao: :lmao:

Wonder who the SWAC schools will schedule in 2008 since the MEAC schools will be playing a nine game conference schedule and only two independents?

I'm not saying we need to schedule all Southland schools but since they only have 7 teams, they will have about 35 non conference dates to fill.

So we have these possibilities
35 Southland games
20 MEAC games
10 Div II games ( I don't want to see none of us schedule more than one of these games)
Low tier I-A teams
Other I-AA conferences.

Having absolutely nothing against FAMU (as I have grown to love almost as much as Texas Southern) why is it that we as the SWAC get crucified (as a whole) for our out of conference match ups and having a nine game mandate to play conference opponents over the past few seasons when tentatively for the next four years the most prominent name in the MEAC is about to do the exact same thing we have been crucified for?

I understand the addition of North Carolina Central joining the party and very profitable matchups against OOC Southern and Tennessee State however, what does this say of the years of criticism we had for this?

I think the MEAC is going backwards with scheduling 9 conference games. This also seems to be more damaging for the MEAC than the SWAC since they rely on SOS for their playoff seeding. I don't see how your seeding will increase by playing mostly conference games. The other two games better be some real tough opponents.

I think the rest of the MEAC will pick tough out of conference games. FAMU does not need to do that. Not that playing Tn State and SU isn't tough. But they can do it and still get ranked high enough to make the playoffs. They have that history established. The newer members of the MEAC may have to schedule some 1-AA playoff teams to get their name in the mix. But actually since the MEAC winner gets a bid to the playoffs(somebody correct me if I am wrong) it doesn't matter who they play out of conference anyway. Now there was talk at one point I thought that the MEAC may look at having a MEAC Championship game instead of going to the playoffs. I don't remember what became of that. Remember when their commish openly talked about reviving the Heritage Bowl concept between the SWAC and MEAC. Maybe Jafus remembers the article or talks. But hey I like FAMUs schedule. They play all of the MEAC and play their two long time/historical out of conference rivals. That means dollars....not to mention Tn State is in the OVC( a playoff conference) and SU when we have a good team.........we normally are ranked in 1-AA poll. Seems to me a win win situation for them.

IMO

The major difference, in the MEAC each school faces each other and a champion is determined. That champ goes to the playoffs. In the SWAC, each school faces each other, then two teams have to play each other again. Pine Bluff had the best regular season record. Not fair they had to beat A&M twice. The SWAC is the only conference that has a conference championship game and still requires all schools to play.

Yes it WAS fair. PB agreed to the setup and they should have done what it took to beat AAMU.

Sometimes in the SEC teams play each other twice also.

This is just a fans schedule. With the change coming by adding WSSU and soon NCCU, no one can say that the order of these matchups will remain the same. Also, FAMU can schedule 12 games in 2008.

Well TP...........they already are in a deal with Tenn State........and just did the SU deal........ so if they do play 9 MEAC games then they are locked with the above 2 out of conference game. Now if the MEAC decides against the 9 game thing then who knows who else will be on their schedule. But one thing we do know.......FAMU will be playing SU and Tn State as their out of conference games for now. How many more they can play will be up to the MEAC and how they handle the additions to their conference.

If North Carolina Central joins the MEAC, that means a 10 game MEAC conference schedule?

I guess you all missed the part where the bama state AD said they are working on a multi-year deal to play famu in mobile every year for the gulf coast classic starting with the 08 season. I'd be surprised to see the meac go to the 9 or 10 game conference schedule.
