2007 Lousiana Prep Football Playoff Brackets

Baker has to travel to Marksville. Should be a good game. I'm concerned about Bakers depth.

THE LAB travels to St. Edmund. Where is St. Ed located?

Baker shouldn't have a problem with Marksville. They are 9-1 but play in the weakest 3A district in the state. Not only that but their non-district opponents were also weak including Deridder who they lost to. Only one team on their schedule ended up with a winning record.

St. Edmunds is in Eunice.

The 2A bracket is B.S. How is John Curtis the 1 seed when St. James beat them and won the district? No matter, Donaldsonville will shock 2A.

It's the power rating Psych. In Louisiana..your seed is determined by your record and WHO you play. That's why you have some district champions (like St. Thomas Aquinas in 9-2A) that are on the road, because of WHO they played.

This is still light-years better than the old system that the LHSAA still uses for basketball.

Team, my kin folk down there are doing it big this year. They whipped John Curtis good! I have 2 cousins on the team this year.:quiet:

You beat me to it...But I am just glad we are at home and hope we pull it out in the Dome...if we make it!!

Well my Thibodaux Tigers are in but we have the weakest district in 5A in my opinion. I doubt we make it past the 1st round.

Vandebilt being seeded #3 in 4A is new... but they have a good squad this season with my former church member on the defensive line getting attention from a lot of BCS schools.

Clinton Eagles will shock the world. My little cousin is in the 9th grade, and starts for Clinton. He is already a beast, so I can only imagine how good he is going to be when he gets to the 12th grade. I like how the brackets are set up on their side. They don't have to face Curtis or Evangel :swink:. Also lets geaux BAKER HIGH.

I think Baker can beat Marksville, but whoever wins that game will more than likely lose to Amite in the regional round.

Also, I know Clinton's good..but their group of eight is tough. Opening with Opelousas Catholic..and a possible trip to Springhill in the second round. Then Calvary Baptist possibly in the quarters....

All I know is I don't see anyone outside of Curtis beating St. James. I watched them beat Kentwood like they were North Iberville, East Iberville or Hammond, Ponchatoula or Albany. You have to have a good arse team to dominate Kentwood like I saw St. James do -- and Ambrose and those other guys only played a half.

Clinton will have to face Clavery Baptist before they have to worry about St.James. I know one thing, its no way St.James will have more athletes than Clinton. St.James style of play favors Clinton. Clinton has trouble with teams like Curtis, that will run straight at you.
Oh and if you didn't know, the new "Trindon Holiday" #19 is in the 9th grade @ Clinton . Him and my cousin are going to be some big time recruits when they get to the 12th grade. Im already brain washing my cousin  . SU is the only thing on his mind  . And my upset special is Northeast vs Westlake, just like a couple years ago when they beat Amite. Northeast really has alot of talent but their coach is clueless. They should have beat Redempt and Parkview. Lets Geaux Baker Buffs.

That was 2005...one year after Amite lost a lot of key guys from their state championship team...The Baker kid that's at LaTech now was moved to QB. The QB before him is now one of the top passers in JUCO nationally.

St. James runs a version of the Wing-T...trust...from what I saw in person..if St. James has more athletes on the field than Kentwood and gashed them for 300 yards..they can do it to anyone. That's how impressed I was from what I saw from them in a half with their starters. For Clinton, or anyone, to play against St. James..they have to quickly determine who got the rock and knock the hell out of them. Got to pick up on the keys with a wing-T team. Also..gotta get St. James into 2nd-and-long/3rd-and-long situations..passing game isn't that good.

Clinton can't afford to look ahead....Springhill (also in the district with Evangel and Calvary) is a traditionally tough team as well. That will be a helluva game in the second round.

2A's by far the toughest class, pound-for-pound...either Clinton or St. James will win the public school state championship in 2A.

St. James has athletes every year and has one of teh best high school football coaches in Louisiana. They're for real every year.

Sup homie...You know Ken(Hilton) got at least 25 total on the team. You know when we was there...we had 25 SENIORS...shiid close to 60...dang near 70. I guess with Baker pulling out of EBR, that hurt enrollent, which, of course hurts depth.

And on a side note...don't be surprised if Baker links back up with EBR.

I remember back in the day they were an easy win on the schedule. All they had were track athletes who could not play football.

Lackluster play turned arond quickly when Gaille got to St. James, where he implemented the Delaware style Wing-T in the 90s. St. James has dominated the River Parishes district ever since. I can not remember the last time Donaldsonville beat them. His teams beat Donaldsonville squads that had two eventual NFL tackles in Jarvis and Howard Green (the former had a big game against the Colts this past Sunday). Gaille credits his biggest wins over 5A Destrehan (when Rondel Mealey was there) and John Curtis.

He runs a nice system based on misdirection. They are due for a state title.

St.James. I know one thing, its no way St.James will have more athletes than Clinton.

You will be hard-pressed to find better athletes comparing areas in the entire state of Louisiana than in the River Parishes. Look at the power rankings of River Parish schools going down river starting with Ascension, St. James, St John, and St. Charles parishes - lets say the last 10-15 years. You will find consistency, multiple state championships, and players that are difference makers. The concentration of talent within a 30 mile radius of schools like Lutcher, St. James, West and East St. John, and Hahnville is really amazing. Recruiting this area was Saban's best kept secret to a national title while at LSU. Even today, fifty percent of LSU's D-line hails from this area.

St. James out of district schedule has always been impressive (play up regularly with 4A & 5A schools), and this season is not any different. The key is that they play in the best district (top to bottom) in the state for at least the last 10 years (from 3A to 2A). Clinton has not showed they are at this level yet (observed when John Curtis handled them badly last year). St. James outplayed JC last year too, but fell through at the end.

GSUpe...you right about Saban recruiting the River Parishes...Corey Webster, LaRon Landry, the Greens (Howard, Jarvis and later Skylar) and others. Hell just think if LSU woulda gotten Dajuan Landry (LaRon's older brother/Bryant Lee's cousin) or Ed Reed when he came out of Destrehan.

Also, Pete did good in the River Parishes over the years as well, from Melvin Williams to T. Ricks now to Byrant and Money Landry. It's just something about football in Ascension, St. James, St. John and St. Charles parishes that 's probably unrivaled in this state. Even West St. John's down by their standards, and will still be a factor in Class 1A.

St. James and Lutcher always played up in non-district. Hell, nobody wants to play Kentwood out of district either. That's the reason why St. James and Kentwood played in Week 10. Kentwood had an open date, Gallie hollered at David Currier and the game was on. I'm surprised St. James and Lutcher haven't really played each other since St. James moved down to 2A.
