LMAO @ the SWAC office right now. I cannot wait until Sept 4 rolls around.

"Make us play your stinkin' 9 game mandate ------- NEVER ----- BECAUSE WE ARE JACKSON STATE UNIVERSITY." :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :slap: :slap:

I'm not gonna brag about getting around this ridiculous madate just yet. We managed to get around it this season, but next year we might not be so lucky. :(

Anyone that can stick it to the SWAC on this 1 issue, got my respect ....... no matter what school it is.

I have already gone on record with my congrats to JSU for getting the SWAC to shove the mandate up its arse.

I also must give big, big props for the non-conference opponents. Nice job Culberson.

Obviously the plan to have the non-division games vs. the top three finishers from the other division be the ones that count did not go through, as TSU was 3rd in the West and JSU does not play them.

With regard to JSU's entire October schedule being on the road, could Culberson, Kerr, and whoever lean on the SWAC to reshuffle the deck when it comes to conference home/away games? It's rigoddamdiculous to go four or six games in a row on the road. The games that count home/away sked is fugged up as well. But what do you expect I guess......

JRock, we were 3-4 under Hughes during a similar stretch in his final year before he went on to beat 4 sorry teams (PV, AAMU, Alcorn, and UAPB). Most of you don't remember that and want to blame Bell for our current problems. We had wins against a 2-5 SU, Valley and a 3-8 TNState team. But this is Bell's fault...yeah right!!! I hope that we can get out of that stretch with at least a 4-3 record becasue we should win our last 4. Bell just needs something to build on. We like tough schedules so this is nothing new. A typical year when JSU has gone 7-4 we could have gone 9-2 or 10-1 had we not played good TNState and USM team. I blame JSU for the A&T losses.

TP,

I don't want to talk about Bell today (snicker). I would really like to see you all win those 1st 3 games. All three should be decent measuring sticks. I concur with everyone that is pleased you all were able to circumvent that foolish mandate. The biggest problem I see (from experience) is when you have that many quality caliber games in a row, it takes a little luck to remain healthy. At least you all have a break with Valley before the S.U. & Gram road swing.

I don't see that many quality games in a row and of course you don't want to talk about Bell when you put your foot in your mouth by hoping that he does better where Hughes failed.

You are begging me to smack Bell but I will not do it today. I have already told you that my prognosis is 4-7 for JSU. Bell will be around for 2 more years because JSU will not buy out his contract. I hope you all have some type of luck in the interim.

BTW,

Did your read what you typed (snicker).

What is wrong with what I typed and just so you know, if Bell does not do well, we do not have to buy out his contract. It was a three year contract but the third year is an option year.

You cannot smack Bell.

TP,

I am pleased your contract is structured that way.

jstate83,

This thread reminds me of the poor guy that just got out of jail and has one more strike then LIFE (Eddie Murphy & Martin Lawrence). He wants to behave himself but the instigator (TP) will not allow it. I will not smack in this thread.

LOL....he needs to make that move because you know that we have another monster of a game planned for 2005 that is going to break the hearts of many if we can get out of this stupid mandate!!

Go Culby, it's your Birthday..Go Culby....break it down....LOL

They should have let Culberson run the SWAC office. Someday we will learn.

JRock, that is because Culberson is a smart man. Also, the truth is not smack.

I don't know whether to be concerned or impressed by these statements (snicker).

We are Jackson State and we don't schedule down. We just don't believe in it. Never have, never will. If you beat us, you beat us but we don't need Savannah State and Allen to make us appear to be better than we really are.
Some people just don't know when to :shh:

When have we schdeuled down Mach. The only thing I can think of is playing New Haven .....a D2 team that played four top 1-AA teams every year. Also, we only played them because USM backed out on us in March of that year. It's not like we went looking for the Savannah States and Morris Browns of the world. And back then, New Haven was a D2 power and would have beat Gram to sleep.

Mach,

I don't care if we played Spelman as long as that was the toughest team available. Had we scheduled New Haven in December/January, you would have a point. They were a schedule filler after USM duped us. The difference here is that Doug and Pete want to to play Langston, Lane, Morris Brown and SSU. If we play them, it will be kicking and screaming....try again!! We are not scared of competition like Grambling....po McNeese State.

Just for the record, playing New Haven was not scheduling down. During the 2 years we played them, they were probably the 3rd or 4th best team on our schedule. Certainly no "guaranteed win".

And the church said........!!!

New Haven was fresh off of the D2 playoff finals and had not lost a home game in something like 5 years when we played them.
