GR must commend JSU for sticking it to the SWAC and its 9 game mandate.
There is a way around everything. Culberson did a magnificent job of conveniently forgetting that TxSU plays Labor Day against PV. Making the SWAC look stupid and sticking it to the idiots in the SWAC office is not a big accomplishment, but Get Ready is glad he did it. JSU is worldwide and should not be handcuffed by a few bubbling fools in Bham (who BTW, have nothing to do with the current format).

The rest of you are happy with this mess, but JSU can only carry the SWAC so far.
Orlando, Tom Joyner, Mickey, Luke dancers, GET READY cause here Get Ready comes.

Good non-conference sched. Good way to test your new schemes w/ competitive teams b4 the SWACs begin.

GR,
keep reminding 'the office' how dumb they look.

This looks like a pretty tough schedule for a rebuilding program. JSU does get Valley at home, but the rest of the home contests are against teams that beat them by double digits last year, and the road contests are against tough teams that had winning programs last year, with the exception of PV and UAPB.

Bell has his work cut out for him, especially having to do it without Kent this year.

We are Jackson State and we don't schedule down. We just don't believe in it. Never have, never will. If you beat us, you beat us but we don't need Savannah State and Allen to make us appear to be better than we really are. This is 2004 so we can't dwell on 2003. What is left up to us now is to beat the teams who beat us. If we can't, it's bye bye Bell. I believe that playing AAMU, PV, UAPB and Valley is scheduling down enough. Any coach that can get a winning winning out of that needs to be fired. Bell's is gonna have to put up or shut up.

...and though I would LOVE to have another Robert Kent for years to come, we will be okay without him.

Must say this is one of the best schedule's we have had in a long time. Looking forward to Hampton in Orlando, (might have to make that a 4 day Florida weekend). All of the other road games, except P. View, are just a couple of hours drive away ...............NICE. :nod2:

In other words, we ain't got time for excuses. 1 game at a time. :smug2:

Speak for yourself..... :(

I am gonna have to settle for Howard homecoming, Urban League Classic and Howard-Grambling. :o

Thats the most logical thing you have said in the last few months when it's concerning Bell.

That October is Aunt Ester-like ugly.

TP, would you care to comment on the number of wins? It does not take a soothsayer to comment that another losing season is highly probable.

GSUperTiger, this season could go either way but the worst case scenerio I see in October is 2-2. I see the SWAC as a two horse race this year unless JSU gets there a year ahead of schedule. We will do better this year for two reasons and this is becasue we will be better and a lot of teams who beat us will be worse.

I really think that only three teams (four max) on our schedule can beat us.

Why is this still so surprising to people??? JSU had ALL it's October games either home or away for at least 6 years now. Maybe when there's a fifth Saturday in October, we may not. But we have been playing Bama State, SU, Gram and PB all home or all away for years, now.

It's always that way and we normally whoop SU during that stretch. It will be 10 years before PeNut beats us again.

Brandmaster, it is highly unlikely that JSU will open up 0-3. But if we do, just let JSU handle JSU business aiight?? The worst I see in September is 3-1.

This will be a very tough stretch for JSU. We will find out about this ball club relatively fast. Can this club begin 1-6? Yes. Will they? (hope not; it would not be good for the conference overall) Good luck against everyone except S.U. Realistically, JSU would be fortunate to come out 3-4 their 1st 7 games. If by "hook or crook" they march in New Orleans with a 5-0 record & S.U. is also undefeated, look for the SUperdome to garner 60,000 in attendance (the way it suppose to be!).

Tugh schedule but like TP said, Bell should be fired if he can't pull a winning season from it. Right now its way to early to predict what may happen, too many things are up in the air. At least half of our starting positions are still up for grabs. We'll just have to see what happens in the fall.

JRock, we were 3-4 under Hughes during a similar stretch in his final year before he went on to beat 4 sorry teams (PV, AAMU, Alcorn, and UAPB). Most of you don't remember that and want to blame Bell for our current problems. We had wins against a 2-5 SU, Valley and a 3-8 TNState team. But this is Bell's fault...yeah right!!! I hope that we can get out of that stretch with at least a 4-3 record becasue we should win our last 4. Bell just needs something to build on. We like tough schedules so this is nothing new. A typical year when JSU has gone 7-4 we could have gone 9-2 or 10-1 had we not played good TNState and USM team. I blame JSU for the A&T losses.
