Not true, again. I'll let someelse step in.

I'm still trying to figure out how can Bama ST be the founding fathers of the SWAC but they weren't in there until 1982?

Seriously, Kreme.......Enlighten us.

And Dj Jr......please explain what those schools took from SU....

I'm in a learning mood.

I would but as much factual stuff that I've posted, people still want accept the fact that someone outside of their institution knows just as much stuff as they do. At least, wether I like it or not, will give credit where its due from people on here other than Bama St. I will just say this, my freshman year, we had to take a class called orientation. It really was a class that taught nothing but Alabama St. history from day one back when it wasn't even in Montgomery. So unless the instructor or the books lied, I stand firm. I won't argue about this. I will say they posted a lot of facts but its senseless to agrue about this. Thats just like me tell you about PVMU. Unless I'm a historian, how can I tell you about your own house.

They are lying to ya'll and brainwashing ya'll. Bama St had nothing to do with the SWAC until 1982 and I get my info from SWAC.org

I guarantee u that SU and GSU had 100x's more influence on the SWAC than Bama St. The most influential HBCU bands are SU, FAMU, GSU, and TnSU (in no particular order)

I am too. Prof. Butler said he got SOME of his basic ideas from Tenn Su. WHERE HE MARCHED AND GRADUATED AND TAUGHT FOR A LITTLE WHILE. The rest is HIS invention. PV's style (while I guess you could call it a descendant of sorts from FAMU) is something that I sincerely believe originated around the culture of the school. And, if you're not from Texas, and didn't attend a Texas public school, black or white (with DCI influence) you wouldn't understand.

Bama St. is NOT a SWAC founding father. Point blank. Nothing against that band but let's be real. They're not even in the Southwestern United States. (BIG HINT HERE)

:shame: Have a lot to learn.

About what? The Southwestern portion of United States consists of Louisiana, Texas, Oklahoma and at times New Mexico is mentioned. Alabama State didn't join the SWAC until the 80's. Where is Alabama State a founding father of the SWAC? Football wise? (That would be Prairie View) Basketball wise? (That would be Texas College or Texas Southern, depending on which records you go by) Soccer? Badminton? POKER?
Matter of fact, where is Bama State a SWAC founding father in band? Regionally? Cadences? Drill? Travel plans even?

:| Brainwashing?!?! :shame: If you say so.

I guarantee YOU that SU and GSU had 100% No influence on the swac. Prove it. Who's University have either influenced. FYI: Just because bands have more road trips than others don't mean their the real Mccoy. That just means that their schools pay for it ....(Su, Famu, TnSu). Like my mom always said, you can tell somebody that ain't never been nowhere before. Have you ever heard of the Spartans, Virginia Union. Two black bands thats smokin. No influence from the obvious.

:lecture: Just so you'll know, the schools you speak of in such high prestige got many of their ideas from WHITE schools. (Univ. of Micigan, Univ. of Illinois). Not just to you but others as well, next time you want to give a history lesson, broaden your limitations. I have.

I'm through talking to some of yall. Give me some old heads on here that post with some maturity. Yall young cats post based on bias opinions and what you think is right. And you wonder why Psi wasn't available for many of us. Because of people who have their own agendas on whats right and wrong. :shame:

Someone told me Bama State didn't get into the SWAC until 1982. Somebody else told me Bama State is in Alabama and most BD's didn't travel there much to get ideas if they lived west of the Mississippi River. Common sense tells me that bandwise, the only influence Bama State could have on GSU, SU,TX.Sou, PV, and UAPB is a change in the travel schedule. I bet my crab year on it.

This is hilarious. You do realize that the last remaining CHARTER school in the SWAC is PV right? All others were added later. PV has the title of founding father and there were other current schools added well before ASU.

People have put the facts directly from the SWAC on this board. Now where are your ASU facts. Was ASU going by another name and in Texas at one time?

Please go ahead and list the things that ASU brought to the SWAC culture.

 See what I mean. Its obvious you don't read. Its a shame somebody had to tell you BAMA, which is short for ALABAMA st. is in ALABAMA. 2nd, I never said WE influenced ANYBODY. I'm just defending that WE wasn't influenced by anybody.

Only thing ASU is founding of, is being the Oldest Organized band in the State of Alabama.

PV was their in the begining of the SWAC, and I believe MVSU was right after them.

 You don't read either. Look at my post. I said ASU was one of the founding fathers, not THE founding father. And I know their were others schools before us. And you need to read before you critisize, I said nowhere were we brought one thing or another to the swac. The point I was making is that we've been in long enough to have our own culture and style. It was a reply to the guy saying that everyone is a copy of Gsu and to the other guy saying that Su is the trendsetter of the swac. Hit your back button.

I apologize I meant to put GSU on the last statement stemming from The Best Bands Statement.

How can ASU be ONE of the founding fathers if there were other schools there before you? Thats like W saying he is a founding father of America.

Kreme,

By attempting to prove your point (which I can't say is true or false), you have dug yourself into a hole. Maybe your choice of words was bad.....I see your point, but don't think Founding Father should have been anywhere in there (not even saying one of them).

*Doing a Raindance for Kreme*

This thread has officically gotten WORSER .

I founded the Internet in 2002.

 Its all good.

I know other schools were before us. I never said we were "the first". Stop basing your post off of what others have been saying and read what "I wrote". Its obvious they don't, they are posting towards me based off of someone else's response.

:lecture: My last one and I'm out... :lmao:

For us to not to have been apart of "the cause" why is it that we have the FIRST and OLDEST HBCU classic, "Turkey Day Classic"?.......and they say we have no influence..........and they say we copy Su, and Gsu. How can you copy something you had first

Actually the first 2 oldest Classics (Turkey day - TU & Magic City - AAMU)

Im not taking Bama State props: Like I said you were the "Oldest Organized" Marching Band in the State of Alabama. That's alot to say in it self, but I think people took you tone and wording to the extreme.

PV & MVSU are the oldest schools in the SWAC.

Outside of AAMU, who was the last to enter the SWAC??????
Does anyone know this.

:shame: kremesaver,... kremesaver,.... kremesaver ,.....:smh:

I just don't know. No need for me to comment. The facts have already been presented.
Founding fathers????? I'm tryin' to find that particular post to ensure we are talking the same language.

Oh, there it is

:lecture: Not tring to start anything but, what trend have you all set??? Outside of a few minor similarities with Alcorn, Jackson, and maybe Grambling, there is no colligate band out their that share your style. For the matter, SU nor Grambling have not set the standard for anybody.
Now, you know you need to be :slap: for that!!!
Especially Alasu(one of the founding fathers of the swac), AAMU, FAMU, TnSU, Norfork State, Virginia St., PVMU.....just to name a few. Now what have any of these schools adopted from Su or Gsu???

Deeper and deeper you go into a hole. :smh:

Wrong Sonny. PV and SU are the oldest right now in the SWAC. PV was there when it started in 1920, SU came to the SWAC in 1934, and MVSU came in 1968

You're funny. Really. Alabama isn't located in the Southwestern United States. Did you take geology? WANNA FIND A SCHOOL SYSTEM? SOUTHWEST AIRLINES HAS FLIGHTS TO YOUR AREA (NOW) AND IN AND AROUND THE COUNTRY..........
