...and then he woke up from that Dream...... Our creator, Prof. Lyle aint took s**t from him. Yeah, Grambling was excellent since the beginning of time. So what!!! They ain't the only ones. J-state, no similarities whatsoever and they still smoking. SU, one of the best drilling bands out their, no pieces of Grambling. If it was, maybe yall would look better. Bama st., we damn sure don't have no characteristics except for the black & gold. Whoop T damn doo. So by all means, please tell which band copies Grambling and what it is they are copying. The whole Swac is listening....................................................boy you could hear a rat piss on cotton!!! :lmao:

Say this might not be a big deal but um Grambling's original fight song was
"I'm So Glad." Then JSU with JSU rock's the house was a GSU original. Then that beat off of that Ying Yang Twins song was an original Grambling beat that we have copywritten.

:tup: Finally got something right!!! But Famu, Not GSU. And futhermore, I need no lesson from you!!! Famu, and Bama St. are one in the same. Our Prof. Lyle and their Prof. Foster studied together for many, many years. They were also good friends. They are also both FAMU ALUMNI Only a few differences in both bands. Their Snap and Port vs our Snap and Drive. And yes, we "share" a few cadences. Ex.... #7, #11. The rest are originals, just like our styles. No relation to GSU whatsoever. Take care of your own camp before you come in someone elses back yard. :lecture: Can yall believe this cat tried to school me on my own!!!! :lmao: I guess now he's gonna say that we are a copycat of FAMU. :tophat: These cats kill me, for us to be so "slaw", in their opinion, they seem to know alot about us. Everyone always has something negative to say about ASU. If you ask me, I think we're right on time:

:nod: Fruit for Thought: Considering the fact that we have not had a consistant band staff in the last 7 or so years, we still hang with everyone else while you all have had the same people. So what does that say about everyone else??? If you lost your staff, you wouldn't have a snowball's chance in hell. For us to have drama and yall to be full strength, you do the math. Now Yvette, watch some azz try to deny it!!!

You never read anything I posted refering to ASU as slaw.
Some of your posts are contradictory.

I have been around the SWAC a long time. I remember when SU was the only band with uniforms. Everybody else wore there ROTC khaki outfits & played army music with army maneuvers. I do not recall any band trying to imitate GSU. Alcorn, PV, TxSU with some TnSU, & JSU especially copied SU's drum cadences, show format, marching style, and certain maneuvers. If Dr. Williams announced this quote then it did not have any validity to it. And by the way I have the facts.
SU has always been the trend setter.

:lecture: Not tring to start anything but, what trend have you all set??? Outside of a few minor similarities with Alcorn, Jackson, and maybe Grambling, there is no colligate band out their that share your style. For the matter, SU nor Grambling have not set the standard for anybody. Especially Alasu(one of the founding fathers of the swac), AAMU, FAMU, TnSU, Norfork State, Virginia St., PVMU.....just to name a few. Now what have any of these schools adopted from Su or Gsu???

Alabama ST. IS NOT a founding father of the SWAC, THE founding FATERS ALL CAME FROM TEXAS!!!!!!!

How long do you think Marching bands been around? Doc Greggs marched at SU back in the mid and late 40's...

Waiting on pictures....

members of the SWAC include Bishop College (1920-56), Paul Quinn College (1920-29), Sam Houston College (1920-59), Texas College (1920-68), Wiley College (1920-68), Langston University (1931-57) and Arkansas AM&N (1936-70).

The founding fathers of the original ?Super Six? were C.H. Fuller of Bishop College, Red Randolph and C.H. Patterson of Paul Quinn, E.G. Evans, H.J. Evans and H.J. Starns of Prairie View A&M, D.C. Fuller of Texas College and G. Whitte Jordan of Wiley College.

Paul Quinn became the first of the original members to withdraw from the league when it did so in 1929. When Langston University of Oklahoma was admitted into the conference two years later, it began the migration of state-supported institutions into the SWAC. Southern University entered the ranks in 1934, followed by Arkansas AM&N in 1936 and Texas Southern in 1954.

Rapid growth in enrollment of the state-supported schools made it difficult for the church-supported schools to finance their athletics programs and one by on they fell victim to the growing prowess of the tax-supported colleges.

Bishop withdrew from the conference in 1956, Langston in 1957 and Sam Houston in 1959, one year after the admittance of two more state-supported schools ? Grambling College and Jackson College.

The enter-exit cycle continued in 1961 when Texas College withdrew, followed by the admittance of Alcorn A&M in 1962. Wiley left in 1968, the same year Mississippi Valley State entered. Arkansas AM&N exited in 1970 and Alabama State entered in 1982. Arkansas-Pine Bluff (formerly Arkansas AM&N) rejoined the SWAC on July 1, 1997, regaining full-member status one year later. Alabama A&M became the conference?s tenth member when it became a full member in September, 1999 after a one year period as an affiliate SWAC member.


UAPB was in the SWAC before Bama St.
