Honestly with the screwed up schedules, here are my predictions:
1. UAPB
2. Ala. State
3. JSU/SU= (2-way tie)
4. AAMU
5. TxSU
6. GSU
7. PVAM
8. MVSU
9. Alcorn St.
This is not a biased prediction. The #1 & #2 positions too me were close, but UAPB has the close edge on that. On a scale from 1-10,
1. UAPB= (9.4)- Because they started the season out HOT and the fire didn't go out until the season was over. This group consisted of 90% of Freshmen and Sophomores & 10% of everything else.
2. Ala. St.= (9.0)- This was a sleeper on last year, but stunned everybody they played. This is also a very young group.
3. JSU = (8.5)- This group started out kind of slow. Southern Heritage Classic was a good start for this group, but by the time they played SU, this was brand new group. The Sonic Boom was in full effect. Homecoming was not a game. In the 5th, they had certain songs (Getaway & Under Pressure) just to few a couple.
4. Southern = (7.6)- This group started out wil massacre on MVSU. This wasn't even a challenge. As the season went on, they started going down and down. By the time they reached JSU, they were alright. Jackson gave them the business. The Bayou Classic wasn't even a good. GSU gave them the business.
5. AAMU= (6.6)- This group can not stay consisted. They also had their games. At the Magic City Classic, Ala. St gave this group the business, so did JSU. TnSU gave them a GOOOOOOOOD run, but they prevailed barely.
6. TxSU= (6.4)- One thing to say about this group... LOUD. This can't stay out of trouble. They need to learn that every year, the freshmen at are weaker and weaker and a little taste of musicianship. Everything is NOT to be played LOUD!!!!
7. GSU= (6.4)- This group shocked me this whole year. If this group pull the same tricks out of their hats like they did in the Bayou Classic and UAPB the whole season, this group could be in the top 3.
8. PVAM= (5.0)- I say the same thing about this group every year (for this group to be so good, they just don't travel enough for this band to be recognized. I had the chance to finally see them in Houston last year and they wasn't all what we thought them to be.
9. MVSU= (4.7)- Valley always starts the 1st 2-3 games on hit, but they seem to lose it by the 4th game and they never get it back until Ultimate Battle of Bands in Memphis and then the same cycle repeats itself..
10. Alcorn St. = (3.5)- This group hasn't been good since 1999. I think was nice by giving them a 3.5. They have some work to do musically and arrangefully. What I mean by that is their arrangements suck and they just don't sound good. How are your woodwinds one number and play your brass?
These are my predictions.
