2 dead after campus shooting at Grambling State University

Two men were fatally shot early Wednesday morning on the campus of Grambling State University in northern Louisiana, authorities said.

The suspect fled the scene, according to the Lincoln Parish Sheriff’s Department, which said it doesn't believe the suspect was a GSU student. The suspect has not been apprehended.

Police said they believe there was an altercation in a dorm room on campus, which led up to the shooting in a courtyard outside.

Grambling State University Director of University Communications Will Sutton said the victims were Earl Andrews, a senior at GSU, and Monquiarious Caldwell, who was not a student. Both men were 23 years old and from Farmerville, Louisiana.

Both victims were pronounced dead at the scene.

Yeah, I remember back when I was on campus staying in "Roachback", also known as Pinchback dorm. I guy from LA was shot outside my dorm window and was lying on the pavement screaming in pain. Scared the isht out of me so bad that I called home and asked what to do. Never seen anything like that in my life coming from where I came from. Police and ambulance came and took the guy to the hospital after I called the police (while I watched all from my dorm window). I still can hear that guy screams for help. DAMN!!!!! Messed me up.

God bless those two guys families !!!!

Yea I remember when a cop was killed. They still never found out who killed him. After his death they changed Springfest to Tigerfest and cut it from 7 days to 3.

Man!!! Yeah, the LA guy was shot right there on the old basketball court where we played ball next to Pinchback. Heard later it was over some beef between him and another group of guys from another city. His mom said that is why she sent him to Gram, so he wouldn't be shot and killed back in LA. Said she never thought he would STILL end up being shot at a college.
 
I was sadden to find out two men were killed at GSU and of course it's trending nationally. But there are often shootings on campus from what I remember ... most non-deadly of course.

Our young black men listen to demonic music all day so this type of behavior doesn't surprise me .... I'm just sad and annoyed when it happens.
 
My daughter texted me and told me of the news. This is so very sad to hear, especially when you consider the senseless motive behind the fatalities. May God bestow His wisdom upon our Black males and empower them to be the heads and kings they were created to be.

My first thought when I got the text was of @The Founder and his post earlier on how he mentors his son and other young black men. We need more of our brothers to mentor to our youth, especially our males. Every 5th Sunday, our Daughters of Zion ministry visits the Juvenile Detention Facility here in Little Rock and mentors to the youth there. It truly does take a village to bring up our youth, and everyone has a part they can play. If we don't, we'll continue to read and see things like this happen.

(CNN)Authorities are trying to find the person who fatally shot two young men at Grambling State University early Wednesday morning.

One victim was identified as Earl Andrews, 23, a Grambling State University senior from Farmerville, Louisiana, university spokesman Will Sutton said.
The other victim was identified as Monquiarius Caldwell, another 23-year-old from Farmerville. Caldwell was not a student at the university, Sutton said.

They were discovered in a courtyard between two dorm buildings, said Stephen Williams, a spokesman for the Lincoln Parish Sheriff's Office.

They have caught one but not the other. I don't think this is the one involving the young lady being chased.

Man Found my sincerest condolences to the families of the 2 who were murdered and to the GSU family as a whole. :( It's very sad. Also, this is PV's HC'ing so I expect nothing short of disposable trash here and there to rear its ugly head on/near campus as the events kick off. I pray for everyone's safety.
