Memphian here. The metro area is now dividing amongst 3 Congressional Districts. How Sway?The irony on the Tennessee redistricting is that during the 1970s there were three Black members from the south. One was Barbara Jordan out of Houston, Andrew Young out of Atlanta, and Harold Ford, Sr. in Memphis. (Mickey Leland was elected to the House and followed Barbara Jordan.) Ford represented the eight and later ninth district of Tennessee. The ninth district is the one that republicans are redistricting or cracking.
