Obama for President?

He has a good chance but look at the name...too close to Osama. Now I know some people are going to come on here saying what does that have to do with anything, but to those like myself who do political analyses, it has to do with a lot.

Also, I think he is over shadowing some of the other politicians. I personally would vote for him because he is qualified and has positive outlook.

When I saw the news that he was giving it some consideration, I also thought, many won't vote for him because of his name. Sad, but true.

Not that I'm being negative I would like to find out if a Democrat was elected would he accept a Presidential appointment and which would suit him.

I would love to see Hillary Clinton as President, appointing Colin Powell as Secretary of Defense. That would boost military morale so high. 2008 is going to be very interesting.

Also, John McCain has a lot of plus signs on his side right now with his son enlisting in Marine Corp and serving in Iraq.

You'll never see a Clinton/Obama presidential ticket. It's a guaranteed loser. Mark Warner and Evan Bayh are the most likely VP candidates.

As for the whole Obama for president, I think he's trying to sell books. But who knows, he might as well give it a go.

Well, I like Obama, but he wouldn't win without pairing up with a high profile democrat. The Republicans would come outta the wood-work on him.

Hiliary Clinton plus anybody is a losing ticket.

Obama better stay way clear of that notion.
Heck, if anything.............Go ahead and put his name out there for 2012.
Can't hurt him and he will gain experience in this arena.

I do not see him winning. He may not run anyway.

As for Mrs. Clinton I think she will have a tougher time than many would expect. She has cozied up to a lot of a people with deep pockets like Rupert Murdoch of New Corp., which owns Fox News. So many on the left are not happy. Many on the right are still not happy with her either.

I believe he'll get a good plenty of the black vote, but let's be serious here. This is America...there will never be a black man as president...at least NOT in this era. Now, maybe one day in the future, when our children are grown, but not now.

My thoughts exactly. Know matter how you guys spin it America still judges off of the color of your skin not the character.

I personally believe we would have a Hispanic President before a black one.

Wasn't gonna say it but this is so true.:shame:

He'd have a much better shot in 2012. He hasn't served a full term as senator yet has he? He needs time create a lists of accomplishments in the senate, lead some committees, write or co-write and push thru significant legislation, etc.
Once he's established as a skilled, get it done type, I think enough of America would vote for him despite him being biracial. The only thing I'd be leary about is an assassination attempt. Like ya'll said, this is still America.

I agree especially since Obama is not a centrist democrat or a conservative.

I agree with you Fab... 2012 is the best time for him to run. I actually think he will do better with white america than most give him credit for... He doesn't scare them....yet

2012 is not promised to Obama at all. The two front runners in the Dem. party are Hillary and Obama. The Dems don't even want Hillary as president. But say she does get elected in 2008. The political parties don't nominate folks who they think can't win 2 terms. Four years later she's up for re-election in 2012. Barak would possibly have to wait til 2016 for his next shot at President. By that time he would have been a senator or in public office for 12 years. IMO he loses some of his public appeal waiting that long.

Let's not forget though, he was unofficially PUBLICALLY nominated by Oprah. An endorsement like that goes a long way.
