Valley Bball

Does any swac school have a basketball schedule this year worse than Mississippi Valley? The GM is talking about being in front of 6 million people over the first two months of the schedule. To me that is 6 million people that will see them being embarrassed. I do realize the money is needed.

The GM talk about being seen, but what has it done for the school the previous times the school have done money games in basketball. The GM sounds like the VUL Football Coach and is just trying to put a positive spin on this using a weak talking point. My question is where is all these money game money going at within the school?

You all can ignore the GM. What you're seeing is the beginning stages of Mike Davis' strategy. The Mike Davis I know has an arrangement for a decent portion of those game guarantees to remain with basketball.

He's likely laying the ground work this season for a quick turnaround next season. If he is satisfied with the progress he'll leave and turn the reigns over to junior at the end of the season.

Now it's about earning the money, how it's spent will be the story.

Also, peep the foreign nationals he is bringing in to play.

How much does he (Davis) keep?

In the last 25 years the only team that I can think of that has ridden this strategy to some kind of prominence is Florida Gulf Coast University. I think about 10 years ago Florida Gulf Coast pooled the guaranteed money with a good bit of money that they also had to create a couple of years of good teams but that's about it.
Every other example of this in basketball, volleyball, baseball, and softball have been purely efforts to support the programs finances, not winning or building a winning program.

This is literally the Texas Southern strategy. Don't know why people are acting like this is new for Valley or the SWAC in general

Brutal OOC schedule preps Valley for SWAC play

Now my biggest concern is the doofus president coming in and putting his hands in the pot. Hopefully whenever this news comes out, we won't have to worry about that
