They think them approaching R1 status academically means something in terms of athletics when it doesn't yet too many still feel as if going back to MEAC would be a step back

Stay in the MEAC with everything going on academically and athletically (football and track) and they would arguably be the gold standard among HBCUs). The academic prestige of Howard with the athletic department of Jackson State
 
What school HASN'T dealt with this after losing a dominant coach at some point or another? Everyone in here commenting has dealt with it lol. That's the way the sport goes. Look at Bama after Saban.
