CIAA chooses Baltimore over Charlotte again

It seems like the hotels in North Carolina keep wanting to have the right to price gouge people when it comes to HBCUs, as I notice the hotels in Greenville does not do that for East Carolina University. Elizabeth City State has been dealing with this issue for awhile and it has gotten to the point that ECSU is looking at possibility building its' own hotel. It has gotten so bad that even the visiting school maybe looking to stay at a hotel either in Virginia or Edenton.

Truth, that is why they left Charlotte in the first place.

Honestly doubt it ever comes back. Charlotte isn't in need bad enough for events to cave. Plus the main issue is the Hornets who are independently owned. They don't want to give up a week at home for the tournament

;):) the CIAA gave Charlotte their asses to kiss and I ain't mad at them. Charlotte didn't want them there to begin with which is why the price gouging occured...and it wasn't just the hotels either. I hope it never goes back to Charlotte. Baltimore was great to the CIAA tourney.

With anything if it’s anticipated to fill up… the pricing is going to go up…. Hotels, airlines, concerts, etc. This aint directed at the BLACK race.

Have to totally disagree with you. In Charlotte for CIAA is was a mandatory 2 or 3 night stay at hotels. They don't do that for ACC or the NCAA. Nor do they do that for the NASCAR Race, Hornets or Panthers.

In addition to the mandatory 20 percent and / or the "CIAA tax" that was added at hotels and bars.

I compare how hotels treat other similar events compared to how HBCUs are treated (For Charlotte and Elizabeth City it does not look good). I know hotel rates tend to go up and down, but they are jacking up the prices specifically more when it relates to the CIAA Tournament and ECSU homecoming. To me it seems like the hotels sees HBCUs related events as a way to squeeze as much money out of people as they can instead of working in partnership with those events.

It has gotten so bad in the Elizabeth City that even the visiting school is looking outside of the area for their hotel accommodations and I think the end result is going to be ECSU building their own hotel.
