If they went DIII or NAIA with the goal of moving up over time would we be any less happy for them? Making the choice to struggle should not be an option under any set of circumstances. Langston has been NAIA for a moment, and while they would probably like to move up it seems they are clear on what is the right fit for them.
Plus are plenty of precedents out there in which schools are D2/D3 in most sports but D1 in one (hockey being that main sport with a D3 school winning the NCAA title as a D1 hockey school).
Plenty of regional D2 HBCUs for them to get their feet wet in and then see if D1 is a realistic goal after a few years

Great! Now the rumor of them coming to the MEAC can finally be put to rest. Congrats to them for finding a conference home.
Listen, you know folks love to spout doom and gloom about the MEAC and you know why…MAN, I KEPT TELLING FOLKS THAT WAS NOT HAPPENING.
It doesn't look travel budget friendly, but best of luck to them anyway.
