there are several types of FBS coaches with HBCU ties

1. Ones that got a whiff of HBCU life as an assistant/former player but got the FBS opportunity and never looked back, it'll take hell, high water, over-compensation, etc. for them to even send you a resume lol (Cortez Hankton - LSU)

2. Ones that got their start at an HBCU, moved to FBS but can't advance high enough outside of a position coach so they'll jump at an opportunity if it makes sense even if its a bad job (Alonzo Hampton - UAPB)

3. Ones that got an HBCU start, went to FBS, then got the HBCU opportunity, had success, and tried to parlay that into an FBS opportunity but kinda hit a bump in the road - they'll take another HBCU opportunity at the right place where the infrastructure is good (Jerry Mack - Tennessee)

1. Cortez is making $900,000 enough said.

2. Alonzo didn't give up much to go from Lou-Monroe to Pine Bluff. HC job and one hour from his home town says he gained.

3. It will take more than that to pry his hands off of that 500,000 plus perks. Mack is still relatively young. You sound like he is 50 to 60 years old and has reason to think his career has hit a wall. Since when has progressing from the MEAC to CUSA to the SEC been considered a bump in the road?

when you call the shots you may want to call them again instead of being told which shots to call - in the SEC your one scandal or bad season from a staff overhaul and you'll get 2-year contracts at best - the RB coach position, unfortunately, isn't the best position to get moved up as its always given to the black guy who can recruit or the alum the school feels closest to so they can break in or they need to take care of them

So if someone offers Hue Jackson type money at 5 years guaranteed he'll look around

I think I said it first that the writings are on the wall but of course I got attacked per usual for busting the JSU fan bubble but that dont bother me. Deion and AD Robinson set ya'll up for failure which I'm not complaining b/c that's more opportunity for us to shine. AD Robinson promised a nation wide search for the best coach possible before coming to a final decision and we all know that ninja lied and none of ya'll called him out on it. Ya'll could've gotten a better coach but ya'll sticking beside ya'll fellow JSU alum and watch how he run the program into the ground with more mediocrity after that once in a lifetime momentum LOL. Ya'll will never see Atlanta again with TC. We don't have any honor roll coaches in the SWAC in my opinion. I'll give Coach Simmons a "C" but yeah everybody else gets failing or barely passing grades.

if its the Morehouse guy - shame on him but he fits into that mold - but alot of times guys are on the way out and a call or two is made for them to land softly
