Alabama A&M vs Alabama State Game Updates: 2:30pm CT

I have to agree sometimes this band is on and sometimes off. Yesterday was a bad day because they didn’t play during the game. I guess they are waiting to go to New York not understanding that they are to be a motivational factor for the fans and football team and New York is secondary to sports. I don’t blame the students but I do blame Carlton Wright for not having the band to play

Damn
Asu hailmary touchdown to end the half. Piss poor coaching
Wasn't coaching. The defensive players were in the right place and around the ball. They just allowed the receiver to get to the ball and come down with it.

You are right..that sentence needed to ended in an exclamation mark. Lol
Coach ERob knows the MCC is a big game. He’s slowly rebuilding. Lol…I suspected the Hornets would beat AAMU because we had beaten two teams that had beaten the Bulldogs.

Our offense had no answer to the Hornet defense. They never the Bulldogs get into any sustained rhythm. When we did not get going by the middle of the third quarter, I suspected that a comeback was unlikely.

He used his body to shield one defender and out jumped the other. K.Johnson is a big time player. Check his stats. It’s MCC and big plays happen. It was a big play.
The Hornet offense needs lots of improvement. The defense and special made big plays to move motivation in ASU's direction.

That’s why we have a 4 and 3 record. With a productive offense we would have beaten Miles and Alcorn. Our defense has been solid all season.

Not sure if it was coaching or a lack of fundamentals. You are taught to knock the ball down; however, never allow the opposing team to catch the ball. I am sure the coaching staff addressed that issue at halftime. Bama State had a great game plan and unfortunately due to special team play. penalties, and focus we were not able to overcome. The best team won. Congrats to the victors.

For us, it's back to the drawing board. Hopefully, we can get it together. Go Bulldawgs!

First Congrats to Alabama State on the MCC! Much respect! Last year and this year have simply been your time.

Secondly, I started not to say anything about the performances of the Bulldogs as of late. I mean, I could break it down and what not but many of my Bulldog comrades have said it all. I love Maynor. I respect him. I am thankful for the energy he has brought to the program. The only thing that seriously bothers me that continues to happen more so in recent years with all SWAC schools are the unnecessary penalties by our players. It seems like when a coach has been at school for an extended period of time, somethings should be in place.

Anyhow, Coach made several play decisions that were risky. I would be okay with that IF we had 5-Star players. ...and that is the problem, he is trying to do things that only 5-Star players can do. I know the portal and NIL stuff has been an MF but, Coach Maynor, again with much love and all due respect, needs to get him some mo 5-Star players. #shrug #punintended

This has been my issue with his first and second year. He has not shown any improvements in the offense. The touchdown pass at halftime SHOCKED me, The defense has been his hallmark during his tenure, the offense is his weakness, I hope to see changes in year three, but I had the same expectations this year.

The lack of offense is what stopped ASU from winning the SWAC this year. IThe defense stopped our running game cold. Without the running game our passing or RPO offense could not get going.

Has the offense been in position to score BUT lack of execution ie penalty, turnover, missed kicks been the downfall? I understand the desire to talk about the lack of offense - but in every game, the offense - for what it's worth - has been in position to win/close out games. 2 ints. in the red zone against Miles, penalty for ineligible receiver down field on a td against FAMU, dropped td in the end zone by TE against FAMU, multiple missed fg against FAMU, leading Alcorn and rb fumbles the ball inside the 5 yard line, we are leading 20-13 with less than 4 minutes left when this happens and the defense allowed Alcorn to go 98 yards to tie the game and we lose in OT. It's not pretty but we are not a pretty football team - this is a team that plays close to the vest and allows the defense to keep us within reach. I would love to score 30 plus a game, but as long as I have 1 point more than who we are playing - while at the same time continuing to improve the offense - I am good with that. And I am not saying we don't have room for improvement offensively - we most certainly do. But we don't have that offensive line play and yea the play calling is suspect but again, the bottom line is we have been in position to win every game, we have been our own worst enemy with the lack of execution.

Without the turnover on the goal line, you would have beat Alcorn. BUT you should have lost to JSU, so it all evens out. I didnt watch the Miles game so I wont comment on that.

You are correct on the Alcorn game. The score should have been Bama State 21-0 at the end of the first qtr - qb under threw Kisean on the first play and ended up with a fg, no score on another possession, scored a td on another.
