I just find it amusing that Deion's" media habits" were great when it benefited Jackson State/or HBCUs. Now it's so classless?
I wasn't limiting my sentiments to this board. It's to all of the Haters. And I'm no super Deion guy, but I respect his leadership/influenceThis is false. The same folks hating on him now are the same ones that talked about him while he was at JSU. He only had a few supporters on this board while in Jackson (outside of THEE fanbase).
Brother Deion is finished with HBCU's. He's moved on and it's best the rest of us do as well.I just find it amusing that Deion's" media habits" were great when it benefited Jackson State/or HBCUs. Now it's so classless? Folks need to understand, we are in a YouTube, Twitter, Facebook type of world today. That's why he on camera. There is a wide audience, hence the number of views, of people who want to see behind the scenes. As for me, who haven't played football since high school, I love to see the locker room vids from students today. As most celebrities' say, its better to be mentioned positively or negatively , than to not be mentioned at all. Deion has always given people something to talk about his entire career. Now, we don't need a million Deion's, but his unique personality is needed in for the culture, not just HBCUs. This is America.
I refuse to bash this man, as I don't know what Deion plans are to support and contribute HBCUs in the future. He could very well spend his " post-coaching career/retirement" impacting our schools in ways most of us don't have the capacity to do. Black folks are so quick to respond with emotion, and ruin long term relationships. Several of our HBCUs have ruined relationship with corporate sponsors, donors, and hell our own alumni, etc. due to emotional/selfish mindsets.
Trust me, Deion is not keeping me up at night I just think we should slow down with premature assumptions. We don't bit more know what we will be spending our time, money, and attention on 10-20 years from now so I think it's really off base to conclude what Deion will be doing with his. I didn't say coach at HBCUs again, I'm speaking of support and influence with HBCUs post his coaching career. Two things can be true at once.Brother Deion is finished with HBCU's. He's moved on and it's best the rest of us do as
The thing is we don't know how much his "media habits" actually benefited HBCUs as a whole. We know it helped Jackson State (and himself) immensely, though.I just find it amusing that Deion's" media habits" were great when it benefited Jackson State/or HBCUs. Now it's so classless?
You need to be studying Deion instead of hating on him. Deion is a marketing genius and what he and his family are doing with social media is profitable and it helps Deion to recruit.Deion Sanders, I consider to be a liar and narcissist, told the world that the reason why he got so many cameras on him at all times is b/c JSU didn't have a competitive recruiting budget. Now that he's at a "big rich white school", why is he still doing this? No other coach in America, college or pro, has as many cameras on them like Deion and still can get great recruiting classes. It's like the man is so obsessed with attention and getting praise ... he's never satisfied ... it's actually scary and I feel sorry for his entourage and forever girlfriend. Once again JSU should be glad he's gone ... he was really starting to create more chaos and drama like all narcs do.
Deion and his brand was the focus of almost every behind the scenes YouTube channel I watched ... it was never really about giving the program shine.
Deion isn't really all of a marketing genius he just keeps his ear to what young people are into on social media as a relation tactic. He also pays attention to trends or what's going on in hip hop culture. The typical black man at his age would consider it immature or childish to be keeping up with all that's why it seems different & genius...You need to be studying Deion instead of hating on him.
