FAMU Homecoming & Good Morning America

Very nice. I was talking to somebody yesterday about us being able to capitalize on the attention that we're getting these days

It's the George Floyd effect still in play + Deion Sanders effect. HBCUs have never got this much attention in my lifetime. Record breaking fundraising and funding and public interest in HBCUs are at an all-time high.

FAM does a great job of soliciting funds from their alumni too. My wife is an alumna of the Pharmacy school and FAM keeps her abreast with various activities via mail. I wish my Grambling Tigers will take note.

Continue to keep striking Rattlers securing grants.

I watched some of the coverage this morning. I was shocked to see a whole segment about a young Black man coming out as Bi, and sickened by gma saying his act of coming out has been transformative for the University. I have no issues with the young man, it's his life to live. But to say his act of coming our was something monumental for a 135 year old University. I'm willing to bet my left ear this young man is not the first Bi-Sexual male to attend FA&MU.

Maybe I'm just getting old and out of touch. My expectations were to see segments about the academics, research, and athletic programs. Followed by interviews or video greetings of distinguished alums who matriculated those programs and stories about impact of the university research on society.

In my opinion this has been a fumbled opportunity to highlight a fantastic University with a phenomenal history to broader group America. FUMBLE.....!

I truly hope the coverage highlights the university in the segments to come.

They told a lot of different stories about a lot of different students and that's the one you want to focused on and use as an example of a fumbled opportunity. Ok. Fumbled opportunity for FAMU I guess. *shrugs*

Sorry I wasn't able to sit and watch the entire broadcast. I saw about 3 segments all feel good stories. FA&MU has more to offer than feel good stories. Also. I believe the focus should be on the university with the people as a back drop. The common ground for all involved is the university. Maybe I pointed that segment because it was the longest and the wording that was used. Words have meaning and are impactful on a subconscious level. Oh also, because I believe in human rights so I don't see the importance of emphasizing ones sexuality.

Can you see a society where all introductions includes ones preferred sexuaity?

Would anyone have applauded if he said he was heterosexual? No, it would have just been awkward. Come on over here to equity.

Some people don't realize equally is when no-one cares about the thing one believes makes them different. As mentioned previously I believe in humanity so i could care or less what ones sexuaity is.
