Did Stephen F Austin bring fans to the game? Maybe the weather scared away fans, I thought that this would be better attended.

The Texas Southern-Prairie View game attendance was messed up due to the inclement weather. It would've been a packed house

I had heard there were less than 1000 tickets left on friday. The rain and the weather delays sent some folks home before they even stepped foot into the stadium. As the game went on you could tell some people did stay after having to retreat to the Baby Dome, Rec Center & MSC.

It was definitely more people there last night compared to the Valley game last season. Good job pv!

Great job for all of those who came out in the rain. It was BEAUTIFUL in Miami all weekend!

BUT...was it raining in Montgomery?

Alabama State vs Howard (Meac-Swac Challange)
Attendance: 21088

Miles at Alabama State
Attendance: 10306

It's stuff like this that I don't like. You have a modern facility, new staff, new energy around the team and your home opener is NOT sold out. As HBCUs, we MUST do better. Another 15K fans @$20 per person (and Im sure tickets are more than that) and you get MAKE another $300K. We will never get to where we want to go by doing this. We will go to a Classic or go to a money game for $300K when we could do that at the crib and we wonder why we get pimped.

I know it was bad weather and you know black folks dont do rain BUT I agree with some others, SF Austin was not coming anyway. Nobody cares about FCS football. Those SFA alumni/"fans" were probably at Baylor, Houston, Texas, TAMU, etc...

Texas FCS fans don't travel much. The SHSU-SFA game in Houston is the biggest FCS game for both schools and they max out about 25K-30K. Last year SHSU is ranked #1 and they still never got to 10K for any home games (SHSU student pop. is 22K). All SWAC schools are smaller than both schools and typically draw better for their biggest FCS game and most had a higher average home attendance.
