A.D. Banks revealed on his latest coaches show, Overtime Series, that the Athletic Department will spend more than $1.2M to install a new, state of the art track surface inside A.W. Mumford Stadium. It's about time! The Deparment will also replace seating in the team meeting room for the football team as well as install new seating in the football team locker room. Some other stadium improvements are in store as well.

You're so right! I thought I had posted this thread in the Jag forum, but obviously not. I will attempt to makt that correction.

I initially thought this was in the Jag forum then realized it wasn’t…..lol

Finally!! Its been time and hopefully they go back to the original blue color!

Isn't it almost time to replace the turf? I thought those jawns have a lifespan of 10 years.

If memory serves me correctly, the turf was installed in 2014.
Earle, wasn't it 2016? I think I recall that summer of 2016 because SU & GSU came out with hella' turf/field improvements the same year PVAMU was about to complete our athletic/football venue upgrades and Bama St completed theirs a year earlier, if memory serves correct?

It was like a firestorm of football venue improvements in the SWAC W in less than 12 months. Add UAPB immediately following, correct?

For sure, SU came out with its turf field a year before GSU.

I think it was the same year, Earle. SU started installing earlier than Gram as they had to address drainage issues first before readying the surface for turf.

Hopefully it's not blue like the one they had before....

Day 1 of the 1.3 million dollar track renovation inside of A.W. Mumford Stadium

Thank you to our friends at Coca-Cola for your ongoing commitment to Southern University Athletics.
This project will not only advance our Track and Field/Cross Country performance and ability to recruit and retain student-athletes, it will generate revenue for the department with new and old initiatives like Pelican Relays.

Drop your color predictions and track memories in the comments.

Hopefully it is Columbia Blue, just like we like it!
