It's hilarious that our AD the one that's led us to our highest athletic profile is critized all the time but when we had a black woman who wanted to sell blue and gold M&Ms to fund athletics, the culture was quiet lol.

A&T is gonna be fine. Chancellor has said we will be begin to invest more to ensure our competiveness.

Just sit back and watch. If it fails , we can always go back to the MEAC lol
So the biggest takeaway from the article is y'all paid a total of $1.25 mil (The cost of exit and joining fees in two years) to travel up the northeast coast of the US. All the while, at the same time saying expenses from traveling was the cause of leaving.

Make it make sense.

Then again, don't worry about it. Y'all will say just like the AD that this was in the plans when in actuality this was the only option remaining besides going back to the MEAC with egg on the face.

But we aren't the CAA is going to split into divisions

The South for football would be A&T, Elon, Hampton, W&M, Richmond, Towson and Delaware.

Maybe 2 games against the CAA North on a rotational basis but don't know that yet.

1.25 million is a drop in the bucket. Money will be raised to cover it.

We actually had several options. The ASUN and MEAC would have fielded our calls. ASUN gave us an offer to join in 2019. CAA just made us a deal we couldn't refuse

I don't think we wanted to sit and see what this Big South / OVC merger or agreement will look like for football. And we got an offer and we took it.

At the end of the day , we will always be wanted by someone. We have 14k students and growing , a traveling fan base , and becoming a regional academic institution.

Sooooooo basically y’all will be playing schools in the Carolinas, Virginia and in Delaware…just like were doing in the MEAC?

Again…make it make sense!!

Dude winning the Celebration Bowl for multiple years raised y’all’s profile. Good luck getting exposure playing in front of 300 fans in Idaho in the winter. You’re talking like this AD has been on the field calling plays.

Kids aren’t even interested in NCAT like years past. In the previous years I’ve had quite a few students raise their hand when I asked them if they wanted to go to NCAT. That excitement is going down because of the teams y’all play now. FAMU, Howard and Cookman have done just fine being in the MEAC & you’re acting like it was holding y’all back.

FAMU will always be relevant and have a ton of out of state kids ready to go there because they don’t let a conference define them. But here NCAT is acting like they’re too good for the MEAC & other HBCUs smh

Lol you forgot Maryland.

Seriously i think you all forget that A&T and others weren't happy with the leadership and direction of the MEAC. That was also a stated reason why we left. The MEAC lost 5 schools in a 3 year period. Clearly everyone can see it was some big issues behind the scenes. So we and others left, is what it is

Please make it make sense smh

They are killing off their own fan base for white acceptance while there is a HBCU resurgance

Exactly!

Every HBCU is capitalizing off what is going on at JSU. The NBA just put two HBCU games on their network. SWAC & MEAC games are coming on on regular ESPN while you need a subscription to watch Big South and CAA games smh.

Just imagine a SWAC/MEAC challenge with SU on one side and NCAT on the other. A Celebration Bowl with Alcorn, Gram or FAMU on one side and NCAT on the other. They’ll NEVER get crowds like that playing whoever the hell is in the Big South and CAA

We get 30k applications plus a year. We have 13,300 this fall and projections have us at enrollment will be 14k in the Fall of 2023. Guess that shows lack of interest. lol.

A&T doesn't think we are too good for anyone. We are making strategic decisions to grow our university.

Was the Celebration Bowl a great thing for us YES , but we leveraged that to grow. If the CB bowl did it by itself where is the growth of Alcorn. They played in it 3x. Shouldn't they be experiencing the same thing if it was just the Celebration Bowl?

We avg 12k fans last year. 4th Among HBCUs. So that's better than 9 SWAC schools and the entire MEAC.

So if our Fanbase disenfranchised what is it to be said about every school that has less attendance

Screen Shot 2022-02-18 at 2.17.16 PM.pngWe're sitting at a 33.5% admissions rate this cycle with almost 28,000 applications. Are you sure we're not as hot as we "used to be"?

Literally, there was thread on this site last week about enrollment booms at HBCU and how NCAT is now the largest HBCU in the country and this dude said kids aren't interested in going.

Folks just type anything. Folks in here mad at NCAT when their own school is coming nowhere close to their attendance and enrollment numbers...

It's officially official. A&T's full BOT unanimously voted to join the CAA. It helped that many board members were part of the feasibility study for the move this past fall.

They are now the largest school in terms of enrollment at Big South
A higher seed in basketball might be possible
OOC choices of teams will probably be different (ie beatable)

Pretty much it boils down to this-BIG FISH in a little pond. No different than University of North Dakota or North Dakota State.
North Dakota States owns how many records in football?? 142-10 since 2011.

That is what this is about. It's about being in conferences where teams actually have winning records before (and during conference )play.
CCA and Big South are ranked higher than the MEAC in basketball.

And when those white schools finally see that-don't think some of them will find a way to get rid of NCAT.

I can’t believe I have to explain this to you…that uptick is from the success y’all have had in the CELEBRATION BOWL vs other HBCUS.

Of course it’s going to grow after some good exposure like that. Let’s see those numbers in 5 years after y’all miss the playoffs and March Madness while playing schools the student body and alum don’t care about.

So what happened to Alcorn’s enrollment trajectory?

When people speak of the enrollment at Alcorn or how the situation at Alcorn is, it makes me laugh because it shows you know nothing of how Alcorn is set up. It's located in the middle of nowhere. Not a metro area like A&T where people can commute, but the middle of nowhere.

And those Celebration Bowls did lead to an uptick in attendance. But we have only so many dorms on the Reservation to place students.

And I'm all for any HBCU moving up to the FBS level, however each move y'all keep making are lateral moves. But best of luck on that.
