You haven't seen our schedule

I've put it together.

**Question** When will homecoming be now? 9/24, 10/29 or 11/12 and will they still play that Swac Classic in Birmingham against UAPB? The only common date left is 10/22 for both teams.

You haven't put it together if you're asking those questions lol

I know the opponents and dates just by seeing all the other schools schedule, no times are listed yet. Homecoming games are decided by the home teams and most haven't identified those games yet, so that's why I asked about that thinking you may know or have a opinion on it. Only having 3 games in Jackson may have a effect on your fans as they will have to travel more to see the games in person.

Do you think they may cancel having that Swac classic so your school can get that home date/game back this year?

Wouldn't you like to know 😆. I don't put out THEE news until after it's been released. We will have more than 3 home games for sure. 1 of them will be the Swac championship 😆

I stand corrected on the earlier dates, I forgot about the ooc game against gsu in Jackson and the AAMU game is in Mobile.....

9/17 - Grambling
9/24 - Miss Valley St
10/29 - Southern

Accurate. Now you should be able to nail down homecoming

If the SWAC Classic is scheduled for 10/22 in Birmingham, then that would be one week before the Magic City Classic.

Two (winnable) OOC games against D1 schools and a game against a school that is 45 minutes away from Itta Bena that almost no one inside of Mississippi would have a problem against

TSU is a 2nd year D1 school in which 3 of their 6 wins were against D2 schools and a 6-5 APSU team that Tennessee State beat the first time they played (Delta State went 5-6 last year).

This will be Dancy's 4th full year at Valley. You act as if Valley didn't show on the field why people actually expect at least 6-7 wins next year by showing improvement against the best teams in the SWAC (including beating the SWAC West champs on the road) and beating the 2nd place team in the MEAC. This schedule helps Valley and the conference (SOS).

Again you are being critical of Valley while your school is playing SWAC schools as OOC opponents in the name of money. You can't continuously do both but then cry if a 8-3 SWAC school left out of the FCS playoffs

The ending results each year proves my point on why “winning friendly” schedules are important when you are at a program that is trying to building a winning culture. Valley has proven my point time after time with their ending results.

Before you point out what Grambling or any other team that has seen plenty of SWAC Championship Games and 7+ win seasons like a Southern, Alcorn and now Jackson State, please note that those programs aren’t in the same boat with Valley. The Delta boys are a program that is still trying to find that firework. If you think that last year showed that firework, then we will definitely see if that’s true this year. I believe that Valley has improved, but I think they should have used last year’s momentum to bring into a Week 1 and 2 game vs a program that is searching for wins.

A 4-7 record at Valley is something to be excited about because it gives hopes of improvement, and could mean better days ahead. Going 4-7 at those schools named above can or will get your fired. Why? Because the standards aren’t the same at this point, and the programs are in different places. There is no way to compare what each program is doing when it comes to scheduling.

Jackson State is the SWAC Champion and won 11 games last year. They are not looking to prove that they can win more that 6 games this year, they looking for another SWAC Title and Celebration Bowl revenge. They could give two damns about making it to the FCS Playoffs and SOS points. Will there schedule hurt their numbers? Nope! Will it stop Coach Prime from landing star recruits? Nope! So, they will play 10 SWAC teams. So what! They aren’t in same boat as Valley as far as what the program is searching for.

Southern is getting enough money from their 1 prostitution game, (that I hate is happening), to schedule non-conference winnable games vs Florida Memorial and VLU. They are attempting to rack up more wins to help them have a winning season after a down year. Their history shows that watering down the non conference schedule after a down year gives them a spark. I doubt that Pete and the 2003 Jaguar fans cares about the SWAC’s OOC strength while having Allen and Lincoln on their schedule 2003 schedule. The Jags went 12-1 that year and nobody in the SWAC could tell them anything about how weak their schedule was because they slapped everyone. Playing those types of schools aren’t above Valley and can help them win more games. They are the difference between Valley winning 6-7 games vs 4-5.

Now, this is the best non-conference schedule I have seen from Valley in a very long time. I still think y’all should have went softer, but those teams are definitely beatable. Austin Peay and Talengton State can definitely lose to a SWAC program, but will they? I don’t think so, but I HOPE I AM WRONG. Usually, I do a damn good job for picking these beatings from in your non-conference schedule.

Murray State has not won more that 6 games since 2011 and has struggled to win 4 since then. They were a considered a winnable non-conference opponent, but blasted Valley 35-0 last year. That’s another example of why Valley should soften it up even more.

662, Delta State is definitely a good non conference game, and I really “hope” y’all win. If y’all are who you believe y’all are, the Delta boys should be able to pull it off. However, history tells us that this is not a penciled in victory as Delta State has a winning record vs Valley. This year, I think the Valley beats them for the 2 time.

No, I don’t act as if Valley didn’t show potential last season. I am just big on history and tradition. Can Valley win 7-8 games this year? Maybe. Can’t Valley go 0-11 this year? Maybe. All we know is that last year’s 4-7 record ended with some much needed excitement about Valley football. I personally believe that this will be a hit or miss year for Valley

It helps the conferences SOS.

A conference that rarely cares about the playoffs isn’t affected by the SOS. Even when SWAC teams post 10+ wins with solid non-conference opposition, they still end up not ranked well in the FCS Poll. We will always get the short end of the stick.

For the SWAC, it’s all about winning the conference title and being in the Celebration Bowl with SWAC teams. SOS means nothing to the SWAC. You win your games, then you are at the top. We have seen several SWAC teams that didn’t get an at large bid that should and could have.
