Former MVSU coach Andre Payne denies claims he abused players


Sue his ass coach! I've personally heard from some former coaches in the SWAC about how you can't even look at these guys hard and they calling their mommas and mommas and others,even people in positions, then harassing the coach.

The age Of the softtt brother!
 



^^^ If you think you can do what he is alleged to have done and get away with it just because "they are soft", you dont need to be around anyone's children if you don't/can't adjust

Glad he's Alcorn's problem now lol. There are two common threads in all of this which I discussed in the other thread (the incompetent AD and admin looking the other way in all of these situations)
 
Athletes are just different now......I blame "Daddy Ball" and the "Participation Trophy" mentality for this.
Many athletes don't want to work at their craft or have any discipline.
And then you can't tell them anything.....now throw in a little NLI money....we are creating monsters...

I too say players are soft. I played enough to know that what he described did not sound like abuse. My father was a high school basketball and football coach, when players were tough (60's,70's, 80's). One thing he did tell me was that in order to get the best out of players, you had to approach each differently. Some he said, he had to cuss them out to get them to perform their best, other's you had to talk real soft to them as if you cuss them out, they would not be able to perform, walking around with their head down.
Running with a medicine ball.....for coming to practice late. Sounds just to me.

NO, and I guess he saw it coming as he told me, several months before he passed, that he did not want me to follow his footsteps into coaching. Glad I followed his advice. I could not coach a bunch of these athletes.

What about Coach George Pugh. He was chill and so cool when you see him in Freeman & Battle's Barbershop. I thought I would end up playing for him. But man, on the field, he would say every curse word known to man. It was never personal though. If you ever get to watch old footage of the 89 or 90 MCC, you would know what I'm talking about. BET folks probably just shook their heads... LOL!
 
Coaches nowadays have to learn how to be demanding without being demeaning. Like Monty Williams says when he gets on his players. “I’m not calling you out I’m calling you up.”

If a coach can't adjust to today's climate, I don't want them near Valley's program. They shouldn't be near anyone's program for that matter

Coach Dancy has his players wanting to run through a brick wall for him but he is no soft coach so you have to learn how to balance it. Coach Hunter is the same way in basketball. He can string together some cuss words but he NEVER embarasses a player in public as far as cussing them out or berating them.

None of the stuff you posted above has translated into many wins for either coach.... so maybe there's more to it than that.

I don't know who George Pugh's high school coach was, but his college coach was Paul "Bear" Bryant at BAMA. And I hear the Bear was something else. So maybe that is where he got all that cussing from.
