OTE is starting a league that will pay 16-18 year olds $100,000​

  • Sports media company Overtime will start a basketball league that will pay youths at least $100,000 a year and provide them a stake in the company.
  • It will kick off next September with 30 players in an undisclosed location.
  • The company has investors including Brooklyn Nets star Kevin Durant, Portland Trail Blazers forward Carmelo Anthony and Silicon Valley venture capital firm Andreessen Horowitz.

You do know that comes with a price. A price that will eventually HURT HBCUS and black public schools.

This is aiming at that black boy who got told by Momma, Unca or granny he has to be the bread winner for the family at age 16.

Lets say half the top 100 black kids do this-the ones who would go to Duke and Rent A Player University (Kentucky). Guess who they go after next? Kansas and that level of kids and so and so until a North Texas or Rutgers or North Dakota start targeting the kid who would go to the SWAC.

At the high school level-some top kids go and now you have a high school that can't sell out games and lost funding because that kid is no longer enrolled. Then folks wonder why it's mainly white schools constantly winning titles instead of a Dallas Madison or Dallas Carter.

They are so set on trying to get Kobe 2.0 or Lebron 2.0 that they refuse to use common sense. Do what baseball does have a legit minor league system that still allows high schoolers to get drafted and go to college or the minors.

If a kid does this-give them more power over that rookie contract. Let them opt out at year 3.

Because this screams plantation with Durant and friends as overseers.

We lost integration cause folks bought our athletes

Then we lost black high school talent and community pride cause now folks were educated at black schools got paid and now steer kids to basketball factories or we went to the suburbs where we have no political power
 
This league sounds like what hockey does with it’s major junior leagues in Canada. Only difference the kids in major junior hockey get a stipend instead of a salary.
