EA Sports NCAA Football 2016 would have been released today

Just create a game that doesn't use player likenesses...the NBA 2k series has experimented with this is recent years by adding college teams in the career modes of NBA 2K16 and 2K17.

It's an easy work around...and if you use the dedicated sports gaming forums, someone will create accurate rosters.

I don't know WHY they don't do this.

It would almost certainly end up in litigation, with players (rightfully) arguing that they simply used a different strategy to get to the same endpoint of using their likenesses without compensation. 2K would just as quickly stop letting people edit the college rosters if players sued.

Shame because the playoff system would have been in the next game prior to this lawsuit and would've been on the new consoles.

And I loved March Madness/NCAA Basketball because you could be a coach and build your program up to where they were invited to bigger conferences as your team won more games each season.

The catch is the likenesses of college players won’t be part of the game.

how would they implement this in the game?
have ratings and numbers not applicable to the actual present day players or something?

Easy. The CPU randomized players in dynasty mode. It could have randomized rosters from launch. Folks are gonna mod the rosters to reflect real life anyway
lol after 5 years the players are gone anyway lol or in my case the default rosters - especially on FCS - those guys never got past year 2 as they were all in the portal for me
