Formalizing ‘The Smoke’ — Will the Alcorn Braves maintain their prominence in the new SWAC?





Who wants the smoke, huh? Well, we never had a problem with the smoke.

This is going to be a good year once BCU comes to the SWAC. They have not lost to a SWAC school since 2006.

I am sure Alabama State and Jackson State thought the same thing the last time they faced BCU and look how that turned out.

Scored 14 of em in garbage time... prior too that turnovers and a fumble returned for a td shifted momentum in the third... self inflicted wounds... again, y’all did nothing special. We had a lead for a reason we lost it for those reasons stated above.We can play and win against you all... don’t get it twisted.

BCU went 36-7 in the second half. All of that is not a fluke or as you say nothing special.
 
Cookman regularly outcoaches the swac teams it played. Now in-conference as an opponent, they ARE the team to beat in the East along with AlaSt and AAMU. That's a BRUTAL East now. Jsu is a "dark horse" to me. They so pretty n shiny, but pretty n shiny won't win a game against an Alcorn or Cookman firing all cylinders.

In the West you need to beat southern or be competitive with them unless Grambling just decides they've had enough of no longer dominating eeeeverybody. We didn't become a super conference yet or even a middling conference but with BCU and FAMU, we did turn really fun and interesting. Prime makes it shiny.

And then no one has unseated Alcorn anyway. If you pick one school at the beginning of the season from each side based on the recent past you have to say Alcorn vs Cookman every year in the championship for at least the next 3yrs.

My take is BCU isn't really a big concern. FAMU is the team you better keep a good eye on. They are on the "come up." LOL
