College Football Playoff: Alabama, Clemson, Ohio State and Notre Dame


This would have been the worst year to go to an 8-team playoff. Teams barely made it through the season with all the COVID-19 issues.

Bama gonna win anyway so it don't matter.

This would have been the right year to experiment with it. You get to use lesser bowl games as your quarter final games since there are fewer number of schools for the bowl games this year. Think about if you took the top 8 and put them in games this way.

#1 - Alabama vs #8 - Cincinatti
#2 - Clemson vs #7 - Florida
#3 - Ohio State vs #6 -Oklahoma
#4 - Notre Dame vs #5 - Texas A&M

At the present time there is no excitement in Tuscaloosa about the playoffs. The atmosphere this year with Covid -19 hanging over our heads has placed a damper on what is usually a city on fire. Clemson will have a hand on who wins the Natty. One plus for me is right after the playoffs the AAMU Bulldogs starts up in February so I will have football from the Fall to the Spring..... Roll Tide and Go Bulldawgs!

This ain't the right year for it. Maybe last year. Maybe 5 years ago. But not now. They shouldn't even be playing in a pandemic.
 
So if it were eight teams. Who will you guys be arguing should have been eighth Coastal Carolina Indiana Georgia Iowa State? Which one?

We are laughing at the PAC-12 being left out! But Notre Dame with it's Catholic Power keep getting in and is about to get blasted once again. We complain when the PAC-12 loses, but no complaints when it is ND year after year. The system has to change.

Cincy, Florida and Oklahoma would be a lot more deserving to the Bama/Clemson invitational than ND who was blasted by 24 and was out of the game by the 2nd quarter or Ohio State who only played 7 games and struggled with Northwestern.

With this odd year, it would be perfect to experiment with 8 teams instead of talking heads on ESPN insulting our intelligence that ND and Ohio State are top 4 teams.

Coastal might be more deserving than corporate ND. They will keep insulting our intelligence as long as we keep watching the rich get richer playoffs that is all about money and not about crowning a true National Champion. Once again, will not watch, have to watch paint dry. NFL Playoffs, real Football.

If you check the championship game thread, I posted before the pick was even made, the country has an ND bias and they would be chosen. You get no argument from me that something needs to be changed. IMHO, it should be expanded to 8 teams. In the current state though, the PAC12 certainly wasn't good enough this year as their top-ranked team went into a championship game ranked #15 (now #17) and lost to a non-ranked team. Now the PAC12 best team is #25 (which is laughable). If you go back and look at the records, they didn't make the cut a couple of times because their best teams had 2 losses. Those people (the committee) are not going to exclude the entire western U.S. if they can justify a way to get the PAC 12 in the playoffs (that wouldn't make much $ense).

That is why you have an 8 team playoff to make sure all of the conferences are represented. And who is ranking the teams? So we are so worried about the PAC -12 rankings with two losses, but when ever crooked dame wins at least 9 games, no matter how many times they get blasted, they can get in. Let me know when they have a real playoff and not just thinking about making the rich richer.
