NOLA mayor recommends Bayou Classic return in 2021

Things continue to look bleak for a fall athletic season. The Bayou Classic is one of the largest money events for NOLA and one of the prized events on Black America's calendar .... so no one should take this recommendation lightly.

We need a vaccine or effective treatment .... until then quarantine life will continue.

This story is framed improperly. In fact, it's not even a story at all as it relates to the Bayou Classic.

We already know -- as expressed by various figures within college football in recent weeks -- that there is uncertainty about football being played this season. The SWAC commissioner even told Kenn LAST MONTH that he didn't know whether there was going to be a fall sports season in 2020. I don't get Bayou Classic angle Gameday is presenting here. Helps for clicks, I suppose.
 
If there is a season could the Bayou Classic be headed back to Houston? LOL. Would the great State of Texas lift their travel ban on us (Louisiana folk)?

Because Football is a religion for a lot of people. There are so many people just believe the season will happen like COVID-19 never existed.


@Kendrick Well I think this is good because so many people make plans for Bayou Classic early. Hotel, Air BnBs,, flights, car rentals, restaurant reservations, etc ... this should stop many from having to go thru the hassle of cancelling reservations and rearranging plans. If the mayor doesn't want it and campaigning to cancel all major city events, it is likely not gonna happen. I was actually considering going this year.

And so is track and field. So in a few months, you football fanatics will know how we feel. And let me tell yall, we track and field fanatics are total miserable right about now. :mad: I know we don't have nowhere near the number of fans that football has (well not here in the U.S. anyway) but still.........

I enjoy watching all major DI sports to be honest .... some more than others but I definitely enjoy T&F a lot

Just because a site is named HBCUGameday, it doesn't mean it holds the beliefs and philosophies of most HBCUs. I believe certain folks are trying any angle to get Black folks on their side when it comes to opening up the economy. They should have never elected such a dumb person to be their President, who has zero vision and zero understanding. Now they will be feeling the effects of their decision in their pockets.

If the person currently occupying the WH had enough intelligence to have the foresight of President Obama, we might not be having this discussion.

Trump is so dumb, he thinks things happen by osmosis. For example, he would get rid of all the farmers in the country and still think that grocery shelves will remain well stocked, which puts his level of intelligence at the level of elementary school kids. Neither understand anything about supply chain economics, but at least elementary school kids brains are still learning and developing.

Before Reagan cut mental health institutions, Trump would have been a perfect candidate for one by the way he thinks today.

Since polio, mumps, measles and whooping cough have been all but eradicated ... until these anti-vaxx fools started being stupid.

And if vaccines made kids autistic ... there would be hella lot more autistic people than there are now (coming from a person with a relative on the autism spectrum).

Not sure if I'm understanding this sentiment. If football is not played this upcoming season (which I'm not suggesting that it should be), P5 schools won't be the only one's "blowing gaskets". Those schools might be "disappointed" for sure, but they are for the most part well positioned to withstand a huge drop in revenue from not playing football. Lower FBS and all FCS schools by contrast, are surely not. Being happy over what will be for P5 schools an "upset stomach", while HBCUs athletics will at the same time likely be devastated doesn't sound like an occasion for enjoyment.
