lsu has that "SWAC" defense - all athletic young men of color 100%. Sure does remind me of the "Dog Day" def... hmmmmmmmmmmmm.....

combination of stuff - the bigger schools began to "win" over folks who had no tie whatsoever to their schools and that adds up over a long period of time. Where I grew up the average brotha's circle will have way more SWAC ties than PWC ties but once the good ones are identified, the parents, close family members, anyone else close to action get sucked in and are more excited than the kid themselves and they have no connection whatsoever. Those kids' only connection once its over was football and if that didn't go well their in alumni wilderness as only the "stars" who make it big in the NFL or on TV can hang around and retain celebrity status.

secondly, it's the FBS now Power 5 stigma that hurts. ESPN has pushed this Power 5 stuff so much and the only way into playoffs its Power 5 so your making kids fans of only 65 schools from the start as the other teams have no chance of getting.

This is such an underrated part of what is happening today and I saw a post of a 3 star from my high school who posted pics from the Cotton Bowl yesterday. No stats whatsoever while at Memphis (he should be at Valley but that's another story) but as long as they can get access they are cool with the perks of being associated with a player at a high level top 25 school like Memphis then everything is cool (he does get good grades so at least he can fall back on the degree)

yep - I saw folks claiming schools yesterday cause they know the 8th cousin of their neighbor. Those schools didn’t let you in but your proud. And then watching the families all decked out in other school paraphernalia 🤢

we had the national stage last week to share the narrative and you see a lot of hbcu alums spend more time criticizing than pumping up. Saw one thread where a HBCU alum is mad at the coach and wants to down the school cause of that but he won’t criticize the PWC he’s bragging on so he can’t lose sideline access

mediocre? lol laughable.

Let me bring it on home... one year, I looked usm's strong defense and saw JSU of the 1980s. Same length, same size, same tenacity, ... Bewild is NOT stupid or dumb by any stretch.
