Houston Pride on the Line ... Again

"Just proud."
Those were the first two words Fort Bend Marshall's James Williams thought of. Standing on the grass with the fading Texas A&M logo in the middle of Kyle Field on Saturday evening, Williams watched as his team celebrated. Fort Bend Marshall for a second-straight year had punched its ticket to the 5A Division II State Championship game. But the Buffs won't be alone carrying the H-Town banner up to the Metroplex come Friday.
Shadow Creek, which improved to a remarkable 30-1 over the first two years of its varsity program is also going back, along with defending 6A Division I Champion North Shore.

School 'em 1877 😉

Sadly, Duncanville's QB JaQuinden Jackson went down in the state semis with what looks to be a torn acl. Otherwise, they were a lock to avenge last year's hail mary loss to North Shore.

I saw highlights of Duncanville giving South Lake Carroll the business.... (believe that was the quarterfinals)

On shadow creek and Marshall - you got several kids with legit swac ties that could change the fortunes of our programs. But for whatever reason they don’t come our way.

and yes- they have been recruited by us.

Yes it will be a hard one for the Panthers since they limp into the Championship with a freshman QB

At this point SCHS QB's only offer is TSU but he's only a junior so he will get a lot more.

that's my point - we're in on them early but can't get them. I know 2 on that team who have direct ties to the school but not sure will it help. Everyone out there grew up where I did or come from similar environments. As for Marshall, they've done a damn good job of winning in a district where its best days are behind them football wise. I know a certain person has to be disappointed they allowed that to happen.

My homeboy is a coach at Marshall but he played at USL so he's not necessarily pushing HBCU. One of the Athletic Trainers is a former Jukebox member.

I do know one parent who was interested in sending her son to an HBCU from SC but the kid was committed to a service academy with Congressional letter in hand.

It wasn't the Air Force, was it? If so, I believe there was an announcement about his next school.

Seriously, PV, TxSO, Southern and others could seriously rack up with some of the talent around here. Even at my school (Yates HS), we got some kids who could help programs and only a few SWAC schools have been through here.

Yates talent seems to have left but I know the DB/hooper Brown was offered by TSU

They have to want to come and I'm talking about ones that can help but parents play a major role. I can tell you first hand about a situation there.

Shadow Creek in its second year of varsity football are State Champions with a win over perennial power Denton Ryan. In their 2 years of Varsity, they are an impressive 31-1. They have some serious athletes on that Shadow Creek team and its not going to stop there. It will be interesting to see how they handle moving up to 6A starting next year.

Remember how George Ranch won state before moving up? New school in the district already on the way so they’ll be good but not north shore good unless they hoard all the talent enrollment wise like them or duncanville. Problem is there are too many options nearby f or kids to wait their turn and remain a dynasty as Manvel, Dawson and fort bend schools are all nearby.

just wished a brotha got the Shadow Creek gig as it was designed to win quickly. We can’t get the good schools unless you break your back to make it one like Marshall
