UNA was a schedule conflict that will be fixed in the coming seasons. JSU saw a chance to go up north to it’s strong alumni base up north and simply capitalized on the opportunity.

There are lots of reasons why SWAC football has fallen behind and it starts with our mindset. IMO, coaching is placed on the top of my list. One has to understand the game thoroughly to see where improvements are needed.
I've said it before and i'll repeat it. Until we can get quality coaches and get our trenches together we gone keep going OOC just to receive an ass whooping. Some of the shit i see from the SWAC leaves me mind blown. Until we fix that we won't compete. Grambling went 32-6 in a three year span because of their lines. NCAT was whooping ass because of their lines. We can say go schedule whoever but then get embarrassed because we getting dominated in the trenches.
BolognaWe didn’t run from anyone, please stop spreading false narratives. I’ve had to more than once correct you and Founders. What I just said, came from the current athletic director when asked why we didn’t return the UNA game. Kentucky state in Indianapolis was the better opportunity than UNA in Alabama , we will return in the coming seasons.
BINGO!!!!!!!I think this is part of my logic in saying the 9-game conference schedule hurt us. We didn't see what other folks were doing and having success with. We isolated ourselves to the point where the product got inbred, and you know what happens when you have inbreeding.
Is this true?
BINGO!!!!!!!
I thought the 7-game schedule was perfect in that it literally gave teams a lot of flexibility to schedule a plethora of teams. The 8-game scheduling formate can work, but schools have to discipline themselves to schedule teams that - over time - will improve the overall product of what is on the field.

SMDH.
What was gained by the football program by playing Kentucky State in Indianapolis??
He just told you above. He is giving you the facts and you are continuing with an opinion.
He provided an opinion from the athletic director, and it was a poor rationale that proved to harm the SWAC.
Other than being a HBCU, what connection does VUL has with the SWAC that they are always appearing on our schedules??? I'm sure Langston would love to be on SWAC schedules as many times that VUL has been and Langston is a lot closer to SWAC schools. VUL is a pure traveling team. They have not played a game in Lynchburg, VA this season. The sad thing, Liberty who just moved up as a FBS Independent never scheduled them when they were FCS and the two schools are less than 2 miles apart. What is it with VUL???
I would much rather see Langston than Virginia Lynchburg.
I hope the religious factor is not part of the reason for scheduling them. I know an Alcorn grad was once on the City Council in Lynchburg, VA and he's a preacher.
GSU has been SWAC champs for a lot of years, (more than Alcorn) can you be more specific?
And unless you have been living in a cage, EVERYONE who posts on this message board regularly knows that I am on record (and have been extremely vocal) about GSU's nonconference schedule. Especially, the schedule for THIS year.
The school has played only ONE home game this year. And that was the first of the season. Since then it's been all road trips.I can understand Edward Waters as they move up to D-2 and join the SIAC. But VUL?
If that does happen in 2020, Grambling will not be one of the schools. Grambling's nonconference schedule is complete. South Carolina State (MEAC/SWAC Challenge), South Alabama and UTSA.Expect to see it again in 2020 with a non conference game with a conference foe.
How Sway? The school has played only ONE home game this year. And that was the first of the season. Since then it's been all road trips.
