But everyone knew FSU wasn’t going to compete for at least a few years, though. Taggart had to completely overhaul the culture/roster there. There were issues with grades from the Fisher tenure he had to deal with, too. It would have been hard for any coach to succeed right away in that environment.

Good coach , impatient fan base, a mess he walked into.... he black.... we don’t get time to build culture like these other coaches.... the standard at these P5s for the black hires is 10 win seasons, and immediate playoff birth within 2-3 years.... period. Sorry for em but let’s not act shocked.
I think that is true with a lot of coaches. You better know what you are getting yourself into.
My sentiments exactly. I don't fault them for trying, because if they don't try, well, they are guaranteed to fail. And if things don't workout, oh well.

Charli Strong lost to a 2-10 Kansas, 5-7 Cal, 6-7 TCU, 3-9 Iowa State and got smashed by 30 in his only bowl game to a 7-6 (2-6 in SEC) Arkansas.
What did he get when he got there, NOTHING. He had to clean house and start from scratch and then he left Tom Herman with a talented field of players that he's winning with.

Exactly. As previously mentioned, Strong didn't leave the cupboards bare for Herman. He has been able to have some success but now they are no better than they were at the highest points for Strong
Another year of this and not only will they have to eat crow for how they did Strong but Herman will most likely feel the seat get to blazing

Texas isn’t “winning” enough right now. I hear your points, but at the end of the day, you must win at P5 schools. Strong has too many embarrassing losses and would have got canned in black or white skin.
