Pinching pennies and getting ducks in a row! Skipping Dallas for Lorman, Jackson and New Orleans?

Why do they continue to have that game in Dallas?

There’s no damn way that game should have only 5K. And I bet 4.5K were SU fans
For justification of attendance I always go watch the halftime shows and yea the attendance was about right. 95 percent was SU. I watched last year halftime show to check the attendance out and seem like there were more 2018 from both schools.

Anyone ran across the 2019 circle city classic attendance yet? I see via past years they are not quick to release game day attendance.

How much was made?
According to the the Advocate we got paid $350,000. I was off a little.
from $250,000-$300,000 from the State Fair Classic against Texas Southern in the Cotton Bowl in Dallas. Banks said he’s be willing to play a similar game in Atlanta against an HBCU powerhouse like North Carolina A&T.

But the SFC was a win-win-win for SU. Or, are you talking about the ATL deal?

I'd rather have ownership of these neutral-site games than play games with a promoter that doesn't want the games televised because of some BS about it hurting attendance.

The SFC is PV-Grambling. I understand the "exposure" angle and playing in new markets, but we're killing off the remaining home base with lackluster OOC scheduling and being at the mercy of the SWAC schedule as we transition to the 8-game conference slate. Real talk, the Dallas deal was more of a win-win-win for Texas Southern than it was for SU.

(SIDENOTE: I wish we'd stop calling the conference schedules "mandates").

Savannah State moving back down to D-2 might help open up the possibility of playing FAMU more often after next season (prayerfully in a home-and-home). Maybe I'm a little "old school" when it comes to scheduling, but I firmly believe you schedule as many games as you can in your own place first. But, this is the "new" normal a lot of our schools are facing.

There were folk complaining that the Southern-PV game "only" had 16,248 in Mumford. My response is a helluva lot of FCS schools would kill for 16,000 in the stands.

Maybe I'm overthinking. I just want the best for our schools — on the field, in the classroom and in the box office.

Southern folks think they slick. They didn't go to Dallas for the game. They saved that money for Alcorn. Bring your umbrella, poncho, and Tripple A if you park in the grass. 40% Chance of rain

Su only got 400K for the BC? Who's getting the money from that game? That should be well over a million dollars coming into their coffers.
