Houston senior quarterback D'Eriq King will not play the remainder of the season so that he can take a redshirt, the school announced on Monday.

Keith Corbin, the team's second-leading receiver and also a senior, will also sit out the rest of the season and redshirt, the team announced.

King, who set the American Athletic Conference record with 50 touchdowns responsible for last season, said in a statement that he plans to return to Houston next season.

UH is throwing in the towel this year after they lost to Tulane. They probably won't even get a Bowl bid now since they won't get 6 wins. They really didn't do much damage to PV when they played a few weeks ago.

Don't they know they don't get higher draft picks for losing on the college level.... LOL
 



If he comes back to UH. I like what Holgersen is doing. In addition to King, one of their top receivers Keith Corbin is redshirting also.
 
He will be staying at Houston unless something unforeseen happen. I have talked to some people very close to the situation. Also, It was Holgorsen's idea. A couple of other players were asked to redshirt also.

Hmmm...okay, but with Kyler Murray and Baker Mayfield already in the league as starting quarterbacks, and if Jalen Hurts goes on to win the heisman he will likely get a legitimate shot at quarterbacking and starting in the league too so I just see him going to Oklahoma whether it's his original intent or not.

If that’s the logic, that would mean the other current QBs on OU’s roster could do the same thing.
 
I'm all for finding a way to rest the body, especially if you're a workhorse. Hotel management and the hospitality majors at UofH are actually legit majors and you get legit experience when you major in that on campus at UofH. There is a hotel there.

What were the understudy "other QBs on ou's roster" doing when Mayfield and Murray transferred in. When Mr Hurts recently transferred in? Seems like history could potentially repeat itself, as it did before w/ Murray following Mayfield. Can lightning strike potentially 4X, if Hurts receives the same amount of success this fall, as he is currently amassing?

Well Riley appears to have the mojo on unleashing his own offense and showing up sportscasters who play those tired narratives. Considering the toll on the body, some rest is a great thing. If he DOES return then the Cougars get a rested, contending team. Getcho popcorn....

Theres rumors of a SWAC QB potentially leaded towards transferring. All is not well on the Reservation for Alcorn in a year where many have picked them to win the SWAC and Celebration Bowl.

The current backups on OU roster were either freshman or in high school when Murray and Mayfield were there.

Mayfield and Murray did not start right away when they first arrived at OU. Murray, in fact (because transfer rules and being Mayfield’s backup) only appeared in 7 games after transferring from Texas A&M before he won the job in 2018. Mayfield had to beat out three guys, including Trevor Knight, who beat Bama in the Sugar Bowl, to win the job his first full season at OU. Hurts is the only of the recent transfer QBs to come in there and everyone knew he was guy Day 1. Mayfield and Murray were complete unknowns before they emerged as Heisman winners. Besides if you're Riley, you don't want to risk recruiting all these 4-and-5 star guys at QB and them not playing because you fancy transfers.

All of us know the history of ou's recent transfers in Mayfield, Murray (who sat the year), and mid-year in Hurts. Our premise is what is in place to stop lightning from striking 4X in the same spot w/ a possible King txfer to ou?
